I was there last night. Great to get the win. I was outside the ground queuing for a curry when a mate messaged our group chat that Sam was out. He's Northern Irish so I thought he was winding us up. Nope.
There were 75,000 in the ground - tickets were nearly as hard to come by as Taylor Swift ones. I only got one because my mate's mother in law died last week in England so his wife didn't come to the football.
The game wasn't great - Australia had a big hole in the penalty area where Sam usually is. Mary Fowler and Caitlin Foord haven't worked out yet how to fill it. We didn't have enough runners into the box, and out passing was just a bit off for the killer ball.
The Irish really didn't offer anything until the last ten minutes. They nearly nicked a point a couple of times - heart attack stuff. But we held on and head to Brisbane now. It's tough group - Nigeria and Canada will be strong opponents.
