Coombs of course. I was merely replying to the suggestion that we should rest him, which for me is if we don't play someone who would've made us better if he played. I don't consider it resting if he can't break into the team.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert it takes 8-9 months to come back from such an injury in general. But there were cases with 6 months(in feb would be 6 months)...so yeah, pretty much no chance. 6 months to heal in the very best case, then to get him fit. Nah, season is over for him. I just hope he comes back the same player, because lets be honest, in most cases they don't. There will be some damage for ever.
That account is trying to make a name as an ITK, he made some transfer noise as well, I'll follow to see if he is right or not

It can be nice psychologically to get some minutes in at the end of the season, so hopefully he can be properly ready to make an appearance or two by then, even if off the bench in our last two games when we've wrapped up the title....

Also, one of the Tweets above said he would be back "between February and March". Trying to figure out exactly when that is is doing my head in. What does lie between two adjoining months. This feels very existential.

Learning to walk again after an ACL. And then get to the requisite level of fitness for a Mikel team? Studying ESR’s journey is helpful. Would be surprised if this guy does more than 10-15 minute appearances at the tail end of the season

Nah, ESR is not playing because he's recovering or not fit enough. The only reason is that Arteta doesn't like him/the way he plays. If he did, he wouldn't give him meaningless 5-minute cameos here and there. He'd be played back into fitness/form, like the rest of the first-teamers. I'm expecting Timber's return from injury will look more like Jesus' than ESR's.

ESR was carefully managed because he can't stay fit. As soon as his minutes were ramped up, he got injured again. ESR's problem is his own body. This idea that Arteta doesn't like him is nonsense.

We don't need to rush him back like Jesus because we have alternatives. Additionally, ESR has the worst injury record of any player in the squad so needs greater management. Both things can be true. Shock horror!

Your criticism is wrong as usual on Arteta's management. You bemoaned the fact that he wasn't getting enough minutes, as soon as he got two starts in a row, he broke down. It's not Arteta letting you down here, it's ESR.

QuincyAbeyie while ESR was dealing with serious health and fitness issues related to his growth spurts, it was interesting to see the typical fan fiction about Arteta hating him despite Arteta’s early reliance on him. The kid has been struggling with pubic apophysitis, strain from late development. This is very painful and requires a lot of recovery time. You need to keep testing how much load the body can take. A one year recovery is not unusual. So let’s be patient and support the process, and hope that he is able to come back. I’m excited that through this process he has gotten significantly bigger, so could be a good 8 or 9 alternative once he’s ready.

daredevil I'm not saying it's wrong of Arteta to prefer other players, I'm saying that he does. But since you clearly disagree, which of the players currently playing are you saying Arteta likes less than ESR?

Timber looked like he would have been a real asset for us in these kind of games; boldly and swiftly resupplying our front line (esp. Saka) and contributing to the ‘washing machine’ nature of play. Zinchenko used to be good at this with his slide passes but hardly seeing that these days. Thought both him and Ødegaard provided some tame ploppy lobs to Martinelli that gave TAA and or Konate opportunities to close the spaces. Fair enough if the pitch was a factor. I wonder if they watered it to help deaden TAAs balls out to Salah
