The pecking order for our duo number 8 should be

Odegaard > Esr > Havertz > Trossard > Vieira

Vieira surely needs to go on loan. If partey plays then Rice will be ahead of ESR. think arteta will surely play Havertz over ESR due to the price tag but ESR has certainly looked much better today and previously for us

What Vieira needs to progress at Arsenal: five or ten kilograms of muscle, courage and hunger for involvement from start to finish every time he plays, heads up awareness on and off the ball.

We are not idiots so I'm assuming he's hearing similar things from our technical staff … it's a bad sign these things aren't happening.

Just catching up. Atleast the loss was seemingly down to two errors rather than being carved open by good play. Not overly concerned.

Arteta does have a bit of work though to get the new players used to the system swiftly.

goon this is true. he was very courageous and robust when he first arrived. the injury seems to have sapped him of the confidence to go all in for physical duels

We actually started well but two goals within about 10 mins i think knocked out confidence. Utd took this game a lot more seriously, they were fighting harder for the ball and also some very dirty tackles flying about.

They definitely looked more dangerous in attack in the first half, we didn’t threaten much after first 20 mins. Ride + Havertz really didn’t look at the races. Rice more understandable, he looked completely unfit but Havertz in that role didn’t really work for me.

We looked a lot better when Partey came on. Ramsdale was poor for me on both goals, first one in particular. I really don’t rate our keeper….

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

New keeper and new striker are a must.

And ESR is so fucking talented. NEEDS to stay fit and needs to start most games.

Ramsdale always has a mistake in him and Jesus not prolific enough and post injury looks weaker. This game only highlighted these issues further.

Still got to time to correct both.

If we lose to Man Utd at home with the same players making the same mistakes then we have a problem.

You won’t hear me arguing that we can’t upgrade both. It will cost a lot of money though and doesn’t have anything to do with this game.

Those 2 are surely the 2 weakest links as mentioned many times but they are hardly a problem at all. Its just because most of the departments are too good in depth already

Sicario2 - Tier 1

Less worried about Jesus as we can score goals elsewhere but Ramsdale being shaky is going to be a huge headache. We can’t have a repeat of Southampton at home again.

The midfield is the biggest worry for me. Feels like we've spent £165 million on it but somehow made it worse.

I don't think the 6 and 2 attacking 8s works with Rice and Havertz. Rice is not progressive enough and Havertz is not combative enough. I think 1 of the 8s should be box to box and the other (Odegaard) should be more attacking.

Havertz should be the attacking signing, Rice move to box to box 8 and bring in another box to box 8? The left 8 problem needs to be solved.

Basically when we are in the 4-4-2 shape we need an actual CM next to the 6 and not Odegaard/Havertz/ESR in my opinion.

Panda that’s a lot of definitive statements after a pre season game when the 3 of them have barely had a week of training. We probably shouldn’t start the season with a new system but it’s OTT to claim it’ll never work

Results in pre season I'm not as bothered about but I do think that we could with a decent goal scorer addition still and for me strengthening the defence a bit further as that was the area we looked horrid at times in the run in last year.

As I said this result I'm less concerned about here but it's a reminder we go into this season with everybody expecting big things from us and that's going to be the challenge for me for the team. Can they show last season was repeatable and we can push on again or do we fall back to the pack in those 4th place battles.

Mirth It is all my opinion of course rather than definitive statements and yes probably harsh to base it off 1 pre-season game and a weeks worth of training lol.

Let's just say my excitement for that midfield has been dampened for now.
