Coombs he can't consistently make smart passes out of pressure, he doesn't have the technique or the vision. He's a box to box midfielder.

Qwiss maybe he needs to play in a double pivot, but he's certainly not an 8/10 like Odegaard. Playing next to a volume passer makes sense, but his real strength is in his defending, not his attacking, and he's wasted higher up the pitch.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

Not sure where he's best, and his technical level is 7 out of 10.

Coombs he's not an 8/10, he's an 8. Like I said box to box player. I think what he gives us is the opportunity to get a very good technical deep lying playmaker this summer and stop Ode needing to drop so deep.

Coombs his defense isn't wasted higher up the pitch. we're not a team that need someone always sitting deep to break things up like its 2005. we defend high, and having rice positioned higher has been a big part of why we've completely suffocated teams

Qwiss he's more like Kante than Barella. Everyone is a box to box midfielder these days, the term doesn't mean much anymore. He's a ball winning midfielder and his role should be to win the ball.

For the next few days, ideally Jorginho has the resilience to start with Ode and Rice. That gives us flexibility to slot in Tomi at LB if he’s fit.

Coombs he can win the ball playing further up the pitch. He's good in the press (or he was anyway, not in recent weeks). Playing at the base of the midfield requires more positional and play making ability. Rice is all action, better suited to role where he can get around more.

Qwiss we just need two players with complementary attributes who can pass, press, assist, and/or score, and one who can chase everything down for them. We've got one of the former and Rice is very much the latter. I don't want a Jorginho-esque metronome who stands in the center circle all afternoon.

Meatwad need to get Zubi in the summer. I agree with everyone who says Rice is pure 8. He might learn the 6 skill set down the line, which wouldn’t be unusual, but for now he’s better as a B2B or higher up

Yep, that's why we should go out and get the most elite DLP we can, even if his defensive side isn't world class as Rice has the ability/engine to make up for it easily.. That's his fucking super power, should be obvious by now...

These guys don’t spend the other 5 days of the week just playing piggy 🐷 in the middle. They’re training and being pushed. Jesus comes back from a big injury and is immediately doing lockdown defense and running the most miles when he’s on the field against teams like Man City, despite persistent pain. ESR starts vs a relegation team and can barely run after 60 minutes. Partey can barely run in the first minute. Just look for the video of KDB pulling away from him and Partey doesn’t even have the legs to yank KDB back. These guys are far from the level as much as we love their quality.

Arteta is self interested. He wants to win. So one would assume he’s doing what he thinks is best to get him these tittles.

Everyone has their blind spots. If we flop again in April in the run-in it's further proof that his methods need tweaking and further rotation is needed, especially as the main reason is that the first team players are knackered again.

Training means nothing. Match practice is the most important. Otherwise the term match sharpness won't ever be created. You can't replicate a real match situation.

Luton are bad, but the other 10 starters played against the same team, so they must've been even further from the level.
