At the risk of being absurd, the best hope for the likes of Odegaard and Havertz's chances of being mainstays in the team is Vini/a similar attacker coming in. With Saka on the right and Vini on the left, one way of instilling the tactical and pressing and defensive discipline into the team Arteta likes is by those two getting into the team over the likes of Eze.
It almost has echoes of how Mourinho designed his Chelsea team during his second stint, where he happily took the defensive hit on Cesc and Hazard because of their attacking talents, but made sure that Oscar, Kante, Willian were positioned also across the midfield 5 to compensate, alongside Azpillicueta being very conservative at LB and Costa running hard at CF.
I have no problem with this sort of approach to attacking - giving more latitude to Saka (to a degree, as he works bloody hard) or a strong LW/CF is fine by me. But giving it up for Eze, who doesn't provide enough output, feels like a waste given we're at CL final/semi-final levels of competition.
For all of Odegaard's shortcomings in the last couple of years, he still excels on the pressing side, and makes chances just through that alone. It definitely sugars the pill for me.
