It's funny you say that Quincy, because I was going to make the following point in this thread yesterday but couldn't be bothered to chip in with at the time.
I agree you don't hear much from rival fans on Vieira but that's just spite and bias coming through, but I've found when I've spoken to people in person that followed football closely during Vieira's time, that don't support teams like Man U, Spurs, Chelsea etc - y'know clubs from which the fans don't automatically despise us - they are all huge, huge admirers of Vieira. One of my closest friends is an Everton supporter and he thinks Vieira is hands down the best midfielder of that type the league has seen. Another friend that supports Liverpool (I don't live anywhere near Liverpool I feel inclined to mention, at this point lol), we've had discussions about dream teams and he's had Vieira in there ahead of Gerrard. Yes, you read that correctly. A Liverpool fan that rated Vieira that highly, he was able to see past Gerrard.
Vieira is a player that always get huge amounts of respect when footy is discussed over some bevvies and his name is brought up, in my experience. Know another guy, Wolves fan, who I used to play PES with. We both had our created teams and he had Vieira sat in midfield behind Platini and Zico, and Vieira was his pride and joy 😂 Wouldn't stop yapping about him whenever he got on the ball as him or made a tackle in midfield. "Awwww Vieira has had you up there son, different gravy that bloke."
I think anyone over the age of 35 who watched Vieira back then will tell you how good he was.
So if you never saw Vieira, you missed alot of Henry too? When did you start supporting, I feel like I remember you mentioning before - 2006?
