There's no team that always improves though. It goes in cycles. So to me - there is a promised land. And that it's that this cycle, generation or whatever, gets to grab a few important trophies before they leave.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 My biggest worry is if we will get another chance as good as this.

People said that last year. I think Arsenal and City will both be stronger next season and it'll be another close run affair.

Qwiss we are clearly one of the two best teams in the league. But I also think we are much more vulnerable. 1 or 2 big injuries in the wrong positions could be debilitating.

Claudius that is something to fix this summer. Its also something a top coach should be able to deal with. TBF we were without Partey and Timber all season, arguably two first XI players and we coped. Its easy to say they may not be as important as some others but Partey was crucial last season and if Timber had come in and performed as we hoped people would be calling him as important as the rest of the back 4. Odegaard and Saka are probably the 2 exceptions but thats like City without Haaland/KDB or Liverpool without Salah/VVD/TAA and this summer we need to do what we can to safeguard against those weaknesses.

Odegaard is our biggest key person risk. It was previously Partey and we mitigated the risk by signing Rice, and we need to do likewise for Odegaard.

CAM, CB, and FW would be my priorities this summer.

I do agree Odegaard missing games would cost us big time, was hoping Vieira would grow into that role.

I assume that DD is referring to a midfielder who can play with Ødegaard and Rice (if not I disagree with him).

If we win our last game, our record in our last 18 games would be won 16, drawn one and lost one. That is an incredible run of games, it just shows what kind of fucking freaks we are up against.

We've had the reverse of last season. We just need to manage no 3 game dips for a whole season now. Will be even harder next year with 8 Champions League games.

Panda I think we'll have a bigger squad going into next season and hopefully this time not have two first XI players (Partey & Timber) miss the whole the season. We need to have a bit of a clear out, there are a few players for whatever reason Arteta doesn't trust/rate them. They need to be moved on and we need to bring in talent who can actually fill in.

We were actually pretty lucky with injuries this season, with Saliba, Gabby M, Saka, Rice and Martin all fit all year. Fingers crossed that happens again.

That is a fair point and we probably need to address that this window as well. Need a CB, maybe a couple CMs and wide player to make sure we can compensate for injuries but most importantly when you're in multiple competitions you need to be able to rotate. Players like Vieira looked like they were ready to kick on earlier in the season and hopefully they can play a bigger role for us going forward.

Sicario2 - Tier 1

I don’t know about you guys but I’m fucking seething the fact we won’t win the title.

We need to go into next season with hurt and pain. Every game has to be a fuck you to Man City. That’s from supporters and players.

Have that Son miss in your mind every game and just fucking go for it.

We HAVE to win the title next year by hook or by crook, I don’t give a fuck anymore.

This season we almost wasted the first half by not having enough pain/hunger to put things right from the previous year. They called us bottlers? Prove them wrong from day 1 not from Jan 1st. We left it too fucking late.

Have a good pre-season and start next season like every game is a critical. Yes we won’t win every game but none of this BS drawing at home to shit teams. We must be assertive , motivated and hungry from the get go. We have to go into next season like we already are champions. Let’s not EVER be in a position to have to rely on Spurs or other shit teams to define our destiny.

I want to win the title so bad. I hope the players feel the same. Next season is the one.

It's a reasonable wish given our progress, but any kind of injury can always rule it out, unless we're going to clone Ødegaard, Saka, Rice, White etc. Hoping we go into next season with a plan to give them a lesser workload as they've been brutalised for months.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 I don’t know about you guys but I’m fucking seething the fact we won’t win the title.

I enjoyed our title challenge this season. Since December I mentioned I already made peace with myself that we are most likely not winning the title as I analysed the 2nd half of the season and the chances are not high mathematically vs City in probable terms. I have zero complains at all.

What I did not expect is us going on such a good run we actually came within 2 points of City for the title. That really made me enjoy the ride. Title is a bonus for me, considering how many matches we lost and most importantly considering how poor the performances are (we grinded so many close victories in the 1st half of the season pre dubai) our 2nd half of the season filled me with so much confidence for the upcoming season. In a normal season I think we would have finished a distant 3rd. Our run is also quite machine-like tbh.

The only tiny regret would probably be Villa. It was in our hands and we threw it away badly. But even then I didn't feel devastated like last season at Anfield and West Ham. Probably that my low expectations this year really helped.

Best thing we can improve on next season is playing with some ego and self belief. We spent the first few months doubting ourselves and struggling with expectation.

Everything we’ve done this year should enable us to take that next step.

goon Yeah I agree on this and I think it will be there from the off. We're the real deal now and throw in some new additions in the summer and no one, including City, is gonna look forward to playing us, home or away.

I think missing Partey and Timber really fucked up how we were planning on setting up. Timber for his ability to invert and bring the ball out and Partey for dictating our game.

We only really started to get going once we moved Havertz up top and Jorginho into midfield around January time. It is hard to compensate for losing two key players near enough the whole season. Thankfully we didn't have any other long term injuries but those two imo were key for how we planned on building from the back.

If the first couple of games were anything to go by thats for the best.

We need to go into next season knowing how we want to play. No more experimental shit. We looked flakey for a long time before it caught up with us against Villa, West Ham and Fulham. We need to go into next season playing like this, knowing who fits where and with new players who can slot in and hit the ground running. We can't afford another season of figuring out a player like we did we Havertz. We can't afford any more mad experiments like Partey at RB, etc Get players who fit now and can dominate from game one to game 38.

Clrnc Sums it up well for me. Last season was devastating as we collapsed so badly with almost two hands on the trophy. Still really gutted this season because you just don't know ho many more chances you get, but it feels easier to accept because we've been almost perfect for so long. Regrets over the odd result (mainly those couple of games over the Xmas period), but there's not a lot more we could have done and unfortunately we're facing an almost impossible task.

If we can get a blockbuster Rice-level of a signing to play alongside Rice himself we'd have a monstrous midfield to rival nearly any team. Out with Partey, get whatever we can for him.
