RocktheCasbah Big Willie no, I didn't.
I said this:
"my entire contribution to this thread was triggered (oooooh!) by Willie saying that if it wasn't for the two goals penalties we scored we'd have had a difficult game. Well, of course that could have been true, but the fact is those penalties did happen, were scored and so it's a moot point."
Well yeah, obviously those penalties made the game easier for us and ended up giving us more opportinuties late on for ESR and others to inflate our xG, despite the majority of it coming from those penalties until the 60th minute or so.
This is what I wrote back then, directed towards Coombs by the way as you weren't even in the convo by that point.
Big Willie Coombs Think it was an awful setup. The scoreline flatters us, and we won despite Arteta's tinkering.
Agreed. Two penalties and a lucky deflection off a wayward header that was intended to go across the box. I'll take the result but it was far from as straightforward as the score suggests. Once we were 3-0 up it was game over but without those two penalties we could have found ourselves in a very tricky battle.
Yet you got "triggered" and inserted yourself to selectively quoted the following bit just to be patronising despite having admitted to not watching the game yourself.

Ah yes, the mystical land of hypothetical football...
After I explained my reasoning to which you responded
RocktheCasbah I'll be honest, I didn't see the game, so I don't know and you might be right. I just find it difficult to engage with an argument that essentially says, if it wasn't for those two goals we scored - on top of the one we already had - it would have been a difficult game.
If penalties don't count as legitimate goals now, does Cliff Bastin actually still own our goalscoring record?
Once again, despite you admitting to not watching the game, this is you saying again you find it difficult to engage with something that you didn't agree with. All because I said those penalties inflated our xG and as a result made the game more comfortable because the other side had to attack us at 3-0. So yeah, penalties can not be discounted, yet you seem to want to discount them here.
RocktheCasbah I'd love you to show me where I've said I won't engage with your posts generally (I mean I literally replied to one you posted yesterday, saying thanks to you), rather than saying I don't feel like revisiting a discussion from 6 months ago where I'd already apologised to you.
Ok, this next quoted bit was not more than a few days ago after the Fulham game.
Oh and yes you did apologise back then, thank you. This was only revisited because it felt surprising you completely discounting their penalty to show West Ham weren't that good on the day when you were on my case back then for discounting ours to show we weren't actually that good.
RocktheCasbah You lost me there chief, sorry. Not going to engage with the rest of your post because it's pointless if that's the viewpoint you're coming from. We're never going to agree.
You choose to respond to but only to inform me that you won't be engaging with me in this thread after the Fulham loss where I'd talked about a number of issues because you'd disagreed with me saying it felt narcissistic of Arteta to blame everything and everyone but himself.
But yeah, either engage with me or don't. Just don't patronise me. I'm not here trolling or winding people up, nor do I think my opinions are that outlandish or absurd to be talked down to.
