Clrnc Sorry i was wrong about him. Really thought we could revive him and he would thrive in finding space here.

The one time we had a free run at our first choice player it turns out to be absolute crap. Given our track record, I hope we miss out on every single player Arteta wants and have to go for our backup options in future.

It's odd how many trusted Arteta and Edu on this. Wishful thinking? I was very critical from the start, because he had looked like dog shit for three years at Chelsea. If an offensive player struggles with the basic things like first touch, passing, finishing etc, it's hard to see how they'll contribute meaningfully to a good team.

this wasn't about edu for me because i believe his only role at the club right now is to do what arteta wants. that's how the kroenkes want it. i trusted arteta because the team he deployed in 2022-23 was damn good and if he felt havertz was the man for that #8 role, then maybe i'm just missing something and he's earned the benefit of the doubt as the highly paid expert. he must have a grand plan for him. he didn't and now he's lost that credit and needs to be stripped of his player acquisition responsibilities.

One little caveat is for a player who's big skill is movement, we haven't really been passing and moving the ball well enough or quickly enough to take advantage. I've seen him make quite a few runs that get ignored. The likes of Ode and Saka haven't been at their best either to make use of those runs.

I think if we are going to get the most out of him, we need to really look for him. He's a bit like Odegaard, in that I think he'll only play well when he has a lot of touches.

Maybe, but he's also a poor finisher. Not sure how smart it is to actively look for him near the box.

We were always going buy a dud or 3 despite our recruitment being stellar for the most part. Pool spunked money on Chamberlain and Keita during their glory years.

He's gone from being a liability to average, so there has been improvement. It's a much bigger jump up to becoming a good player for us. I wouldn't put money on it, but I'm not so sure if I'd put money against it either.

He's looking fit and started confidently. Needs to hit a goal glut this month, and park himself in the box for in-swingers. Needs to runs into channels in between the last line of defense rather than just dragging them with runs into peripheral areas (Trossard and Martinelli are not obliging him in those spaces). He's underhitting his own crosses too I think, which ought to be easy to rectify.

Keita was more like buying Havertz from Leverkusen on the back of being great in the Bundesliga. Nobody criticizes Chelsea for buying Havertz or Liverpool for buying Keita - it made sense. We're the next buyer, after the player has failed to live up to his potential.

"Why does Havertz play exactly as badly for us as he's done for Chelsea for the last three seasons?" won't get as much understanding.

Ox had his best season for us being he was sold too. Liverpool fans was unbelievably excited about him. Then he got injured, and injured and injured. It happens.

That said, there are clubs who also buy proven duds, hoping to resurrect them. And there are tons of success stories too for those. But generally those are bought at a bargain, and gambles on them are normally due to the fact they are cheap.

We helped Chelsea recoup all their money, and also apparently gave the player as good a contract or better than he had at Chelsea.

Team is still better with Kai in it than most other options. Partey is not in the conversation at the moment. The Hungarian footballer stings, for sure, but Maddison makes me extra sad.
