daredevil he plays like a centre forward. There was a point in the game when he received the ball in the final third, and did a wall pass to try bring more players forward. Odegaard or Saka would’ve turned with that ball and progressed the ball with a dribble.

I want to see him for a few games with Jesus. Jesus does a great job of dropping to link play, allowing others to fill in at 9. Our play without Jesus and Zin has been very restricted to the wings. Get them both in, and we will see more involvement for Havertz.

Claudius Left back has been Timber, Tomi, Kiwior. Striker has been Jesus, Nketiah and Trossard. So he’s had to adapt to a lot of things every game. We just need a bit of patience here.

We need it, but I doubt he'll get it. It's a problem that Arteta's expecting him to build confidence in this enigmatic role where the fans might blast him as a Chelsea reject … if he starts versus United he needs to pull out a few likeable moments.

I don't think it's a particularly devious role.
If he isn't put in the CF position Kai is expected to be a pressing 8 similar to Odegaard who is just about as floaty in his movement. For the sake of balance Ode is coming deeper the way Xhaka was before and Kai is moving between the lines ahead as Odegaard was.

banduan that’s another fair point. We’re asking Odegaard to drop deeper rather than get close to goal like he did last season despite Ode having one of the best seasons as a goal scoring midfielder

Devious isn't the word, but it'll remain a strange-looking role, for instance with the eagerness he'll have to get off
the ball once he receives a pass.

Was just going back through this mini-dossier and Havertz is certainly doing some odd stuff, he is ghosting off the ball into every forward channel from left wing to inside right, and also makes a back post run six times a half. Seems very little like what Øde does, or Xhaka was doing.

I'm not sure about the shape change you mention versus Ødegaard, but I'll keep an eye out versus United. It'd be a major waste to have Øde consistently beyond his preferred shooting distance round the edge of the area.

daredevil What I find interesting and have observed so far at Arsenal is that he looks much better as a CF rather than in midfield, despite my initial thoughts being that he was played out of position. He looked far more likely to impact the game against City playing upfront, than he has done in the following three games in midfield combined. This aligns with the fact that statistically at Chelsea, he was much more effective as a CF where he was able to score goals and as he's not an assister, was completely ineffectual from midfield with barely any goals or assists.

The problem here is that even if he looks better up front than in midfield he has still looked like at best our 3rd best option for CF and thats if you discount the idea of playing Martinelli there. He's going to have to make it work in midfield or he'll end up just being a versatile sub.

I didn't feel like Odegaard was that much deeper than usual. Havertz drops quite deep sometimes himself.

Looks to be getting in shape finally. Looked a bit too big for him recently and therefore wouldn’t have been as nimble

For him no. It’s probably why he appeared so flat footed at times in recent games.

Rice’s fitness has come on too. Might be as they were coming from outside of Arsenal.

Wonder if we’ll see us play 4-4-2 at any point this year, with Havertz and Jesus up top. Would be another tactic

He's too slow and safe atm. I hope he finds some confidence soon. Nothing seems to be coming off for him. Will keep backing him though. You can do it Kai!

It's interesting how the schedule has worked out because I still think he would be our best best to play in that position for an away game against Everton.
