Gazza M needs to add graft to that if he's in our midfield. He was never a massively creative force like Ode but he does have defence splitting passes in his locker. He'll probably take a while to settle into the new role Arteta has for him, how we balance that is the trick.

His height's going to create a few interesting situations. Mind you, he's only got a couple of inches on Xhaka I guess.

He might be worth at least one goal in four or maybe even three starts at left 8, but the variation of possibilities is probably more interesting.

I can see why adding more vertical, aggressive long passes would be on the menu for arteta. I did notice we were really trying to bang some early fast passes between the lines against barca. mixed results, but sometimes it came off. havertz excels at being bringing those zippy passes under control and building with quick movement/passing in and around the box

Yeah, the main thing is avoiding our Plan A, where we run things through Øde and Saka, becoming too rote and predictable. If we can drag the complement of extra defenders away from those two we'll be destructive.
