invisibleman18 this debate happened last season, but are you saying that because noone moved we couldn't have tried? Or that there genuinely is noone in the world better than what we have?
I don't necessarily have the answer on the who but can't believe the latter is true.
My argument is that not a single striker better than Havertz moved in this window. The only one who was available was Osimhen but he has priced himself out of a move to anyone except the Saudis. Nothing wrong with chasing the bag but that isn't what we need here.
This isn't Football manager where you just think fuck it and buy someone, players are firstly people that you need to manage. But then there is also a cost factor, money we spend on someone who doesn't improve us means we have less money to spend later on.
It has been a challenging window for most clubs, our main title rivals in City and Liverpool hardly went out and massively improved their squads either. We pushed hard for Williams but we couldn't convince the player, you can't force players to join. We clearly were trying to get players but I'd rather we don't spend for the sake of it and end up with a player who doesn't really help.
If you look at our front three we have Havertz, Saka, Martinelli, Jesus, Trossard and Sterling to choose from. Apart from Jesus those guys aren't injury prone and can be relied upon, I think we have good options.
