Haha could some of you not have heard of him, he played in a 3 alongside Van Dijk and Ake for the Netherlands in the recent world cup (replacing De Ligt after the 1st match).
I love Timber but I'm not sure what to think of this transfer given the fact that we have Tomi who I rate highly. Timber's stock is relatively low at the moment as he has not had a great season, understandably though as everything has gone South at Ajax since Overmars left, so probably the best time to get him on the cheap.
I like the fact that he's a very good man marker. He can push up high and defend aggressively. I remember watching him against Belgium in the Nations League and he regularly ventured into midfield to hunt down Hazard and disposses him. He's quality on the ball too although I'd say he's more of a dribbler than passer (stats could say otherwise though đ ), probably why he and Martinez complemented each other so well as the Argentine is more of a passer. His aerial ability is his major weakness as has already been mentioned. But he can still improve in that area, should just observe how Martinez deals with much taller players.
Van Basten, who is often critical of players, is a huge Timber fan. Can't stop waxing lyrical about him.
