Qwiss FA are banning players from saying "From the river to the sea". Fucking ridiculous. The UK is insanely censorious.
You're Irish, you get it. It's reminiscent of the abuse Republican players have received for refusing to join in poppy-mania.
At least there are some signs of exhaustion about this instrumentalisation of charges of antisemitism as a tool of coercion. Years too late to save "friend of Hamas" Jeremy Corbyn's leadership, sadly. But some universities have batted back the IHRA definition of antisemitism, and the FA at least pushed back with a clear line on lobbying to light up Wembley in blue and white.
Thought it was utterly wild this Labour MP Andy McDonald had the whip withdrawn for saying this:
Until all people, Israelis and Palestinians, between the river and the sea can live in peaceful liberty.
That's a compassionate sentiment requiring wilful distortion to be framed as hate speech. It is bleak that it triggered and sustained a disciplinary process in UK Labour, even given the history of absurdity there. Then the same media outlets who blandly report these farces turn back to their op-eds about the "woke mob" suppressing free speech on campus.
