Nah I don't think so, this cosy little guild would get crucified for that. Almost no one living would agree top flight referees are important enough to justify cancelling a weekend of top flight football. Scab labour wouldn't be hard to find, not saying refereeing is easy, but plenty of experienced heads would jump at the chance.
