I didn't get excited when I saw Newcastle were ahead.. That's what Arsenal have done to me over the last few weeks. If not Man City it'll be Liverpool in the end anyway, are my thoughts. But yeah, Man city have gone behind to Newcastle at St James' (despite their form, it's still a tough place to go) yet have come back and done what's needed. It's the difference between them and us I'm afraid. They get the shit done. We can't beat West Ham at the Emirates.

As for KDB, he's different gravy. He might be slightly past his best, perhaps, but when you're that good it doesn't really matter. Henry was slightly past his best 2006, there's not a team in the wold that wouldn't have had him though.

daredevil what’s crazy is I think City have 3 such players: KDB, Rodri and Haaland. I am hoping Saka can get there but feels at least a season or 2 away.

those 2 moments from KDB were supremely depressing. i think my brain subconsiously quit on our domestic season watching that. no-one is coming close to them if their big 3 (rodri, kdb, haaland) re-unite for the run in. liverpool are miles off it, despite where they are currently. and we don't have even half of their punch in the final third.

Yeah this season is starting to look ominously like the ones we unfortunately know all to well. We don't really have much margin for error and why the recent results have been so damaging. I just don't look at our team and believe they are going to have a near flawless run in.

We're not going to win the title. It's OK, in my opinion. We need to continue to try and make a fist of it, but realistically, it ain't gonna happen.

Sign a couple of top forwards (and I mean top) in the summer and we'll be in a much better place. Gotta keep competing in Europe at the highest level and threaten to win the PL.

I'm on this page. To be fair, winning the title in our first season back in Europe wasn't really an expectation. The key is really more to push on and become more and more dangerous and consistent as the season wears on.

Winning our third of three showdowns with Liverpool, and going to the Etihad in March and winning there—one or both of those victories would be a big reason to be cheerful and optimistic. Meanwhile a Champions League semi-final appearance would keep a bit of intrigue going deeper into the season.

yeah said the same back in Dec. I want us to focus fully on the UCL. We can do that, our style of play suits that too. Just secure top 4, don't waste too much time with the PL

Coombs I've said before but I think we needed a trophy this season personally whatever it was but we lost the best chance probably in the FA Cup. I think with the young team you have to get that experience of winning fast or there is another path in the road that we've seen with Arsenal before that doesn't lead to trophies. There is very much a danger of replicating Pochettino Spurs, looking very good in many aspects and getting close but never winning the big honours.

We've seen many of our rivals have their time where they bubble into contention through the cycles of football and most of those teams bar spurs have extracted trophies from that. Arsenal since our last win just haven't managed that winning make up we've had a few times where things have given us the opportunity but we fail. So that's why I think it's important we are 4 years in and with good money spent we should be looking at winning trophies.

Unless things zig where they've been zagging all of a sudden, we're clearly one for four out of the signings of Rice, Havertz, Raya and Timber. Last summer's gambles and reactive turns in the transfer market are looking like a bit of a costly shit show.

Whoever made all of those calls needs to have less of an influence on the next big decisions we make about recruitment—so we go back to the argument about Edu needing to overrule Arteta more often in order to preserve the overall squad valuation and the club's trajectory above and beyond Artetaball. It's "Brighton model" time.

One main thing to say about Newcastle's tedious capitulation to City: unless Eddie Howe starts getting a result here or there, he's fucked. Howe's now recorded enough dismal losses to completely cancel out their overperformance last season.

We absolutely hate how this season is going for Arsenal, and we're 11 points ahead of Newcastle with a game in hand.

Live by the brutish and aggressive tactical posture, die by the injury list.

Saw the Luton highlights and noticed that Sambi didn't have even a single touch of the ball, and his tracking back was pretty half arsed.

Then I watched a highlight reel of him on YouTube (of games from previous seasons) and I felt a bit bummed out. There's actually a proper footballer in there.
