Sicario2 - Tier 1

He had a very good first 3/4 of his first season. Struggled since but at least he man marked Salah out of a game the season just gone.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

Sicario2 - Tier 1 he's a joke due to his fitness in almost his entire time with us to date.

Certainly a good squad defender otherwise.

@Qwiss ratings seem most reflective of how I saw things this season.

8.5 to 9: Odegaard our best player.

8 to 8.5: Saka, Martinelli and Gabriel or ever dependable and outstanding performers across the majority of the season.

7.5 to 8: Saliba, Partey, Trossard and White another 0.5 off as our next set of performers.

7 to 7.5: Ramsdale, Zinchenko, Xhaka and Jesus, although Zinchenko could have deserved to be in the bunch right above.

Everyone else below 7 either due to poor injury records, poor form or not enough game time.

Coombs I like Ramsdale and have him as having a good season but he'd a few too many clangers to really be considered one of our best performers.

I think they should all be docked a point for how we fucked it at the end tbh.

Problem with most Arsenal fans is that we overrate our team and players and then act surprised when we don’t manage to win anything.

We all overrated Saka, myself included, and he went missing at the most crucial part of the season. Tired or not that is when you are truly judged.

The rankings should really take account of the business end imo. That should have the most bearing/weight on them.

I also reserve truly rating these players until I see how they do in CL but appreciate these were for this season.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 well, I'm feeling generous Sicario, what can I say?

I'd rather be like that than like you - ludicrously calling out a 21 year old kid who, in less than two years has played the Euros (including the trauma of missing a crucial penalty), 38 league games as our player of the season - again; then another 38 league games, only with a World Cup in the middle this time. I don't think Saka will be our player of the season this time around, but I'm sure he will at least be in the conversation.

As I've said before, I think Zinchenko's recent travails have induced recency bias in most of you here and you've forgotten how brilliant he was till then. That's fine, that's your right, but these are MY ratings. And they reflect the fact I've loved the shit out of this season and I love these players. I'm really sorry that I don't take Arsenal's every failure as a reason to throw my toys out of the pram, but I'm a few years past doing so now.

It’s ok, you have the glass is half full mindset.

Arsenal have fucked me too many times for me to be like that - I rather be harsh/realistic and then be pleasantly surprised if we actually achieve or do something note worthy.

Re Saka, if you truly want to be elite you have to play those amount of games, anything else is an excuse. It’s not just a few games but Saka went months in 2023 not performing well, let’s not hide that.

I don’t think age should be used as an excuse as age never gets discussed when he does well. If you’re good enough your old enough.

He had a spell where he was genuinely brilliant but I thought for most of the season he was just good. Always defensively a bit frail but good enough on the ball to make up for it. Sometime after new year he went though a spell where he was involved in almost everything we did and was looking top class. Then in the run in he fell apart and cost us quite a bit. People are grading down Partey for that spell which is entirely fair but IMO Zinky was as bad for that period and also not as good as Partey over the rest of the season. Hence me giving Zinchenko a solid 7 for a good season overall. Thats just how I remember things though.

Your ratings are a lot higher overall than mine though. I think we'd need to win a double for me to rank them all so high. :

And he is plenty good enough Sicario - as you know. Having a dip in form doesn't make you overrated, it just means you had a dip.

I feel bad for you, genuinely, that you feel like this about Arsenal. I'm not going to pretend that I don't, at least partially, understand why you feel it. But whilst I do feel extremely positive about this season (our 2nd highest points tally ever), I worry for you that if you are right and this is as good as it's going to get, then what will the next few years do to your relationship with the Arsenal?

It’s a tricky one. I’ve tried to stop supporting/following but end up coming back.

I do think a healthy transfer window will put us in the right direction for next season though coupled with hopefully the experiences we’ve gained then we should be ok. Right signings are paramount though.

Think I'm gonna come back to this thread after a couple of weeks and do my ratings then, it's all a bit fresh currently. It seems important to look at the second place finish with quite a few points in absolute terms …

Qwiss as Sicario acknowledged, I'm a glass half full kinda guy and, whatever about not winning the league title, I genuinely believe that players who have put 84 points on the board for only the second time in our history deserve a bit of love from us.

I'll leave it to others to sit and pick holes in the team and their performance. I did 7 years of complaining about Arsenal on the Daily Cannon pod (and I hated feeling like I did), to me this season has been a genuine pleasure, a breath of fresh air. All of it. Even the fact that defeats and draws hurt now because they matter. But we didn't have to worry about that too often.

For the record, if Arsenal were to win the double, it'd be 10s all round...

Qwiss's ratings seem about right. I'd probably bump Xhaka and Jorginho up to 7.5 and 6.5 respectively, and Nketiah down to 6.

Pretty happy with the season. Think most of our players outperformed expectations. We looked a bit flat in the last 10-12 matches, but that is probably to be expected with a young team and a somewhat thin squad.

Will be great to upgrade a few areas like Xhaka’s spot, striker and rightback
