1) We went under the radar so was easier to do well first half of the season

2) When teams started finding us out (e.g from Newcastle home game, Everton away) we struggled a little

3) Lack of rotation as well. For example, Saka played 90 mins week in week out first half of the season. This has come back to bite us.

4) First half of the season was only like 13 games due to WC but feels longer.

Jesus dude, I know emotions are probably running high but the melodrama is too much. We've already proven we're a serious side. I don't disagree that we can't make improvements but to suggest that we're not serious at this point given everything that's happened seems at odds with reality.

The way we ended this season is amateurish and at times unprofessional. We faff about in the summer then that shows me we lack real ambition to put things right = not serious.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

For me one of the biggest headscratchers is Saka playing almost every single minute.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert a fair few headscratchers this season. Saka minute management, not utilising Trossard enough when he was in sparkling form, not giving Nelson more opportunities, playing Saliba against Sporting.

But even with those it’s been a very good season with excellent progress

Don't know what to say. I thought this would be a 3-2 kind of game but we did not put up a fight. Disappointing.

RocktheCasbah yeah, but wasn't part of that the fact we were 3-0 up just after half time? They basically had the ball for the last half hour of the game, for all the good it did them.

So this time they beat us 3-0 and still had nearly 60% possession. We looked lost most of the game. Brighton outpassed, outpressed and outplayed us all the way through. Its a shame. Season over. It is what it is.

Apart from the City games I can't remember us having this kind of performance all season.

I thought we looked a bit more likely to score when it was 0-0. Then they score off of a weird/bad scenario. Then game state stuff took over. It definitely wasn’t great from us but some people are exaggerating how bad it was. We most definitely have had a number of worse non-City performances this season.

Missed this live myself. Looked forward to it all day then watched the full game on replay after avoiding the result. Kind of wish someone spoiled the result for me now haha.

DiabyKungFu That definitely adds more perspective to it, I haven’t seen any of the game yet but from the quick reading people were making it out like we got played off the pitch start to finish! I think our fans are just a bit over emotional right now.

And heard the first goal was a blatant foul on Kiwor, funny how VAR picked up on White in the Leicester game yet seems to miss incidents like this. VAR has highlighted how incompetent the refs are here, even with replays they can’t get decisions right.

is very tough to take. Still, I remember crying my eyes out on my own at my Granddad's when Leeds beat us in 2003 to hand the title to United and I don't feel as bad as I did then. I think part of that is the absolute clarity I have that Manchester City are miles ahead of us and are going to be league champions because they have integrated an absolute goal machine into their already formidable side. As someone said on Twitter last night, coming second to Lance Armstrong isn't really coming second, is it?

agreed. we were below par, but by the same token Brighton weren't that good. we just melted once the first goal went in under weird circumstances, then they started to take the piss in the past 15 minutes. what's clear is that the team don't have the stomach for this season any more.

when I look back at the point when this side were being compared to the invincibles, I remember the absolute righteous anger of Thierry Henry when we bottled the 02/03 title. even after the title was gone, he butchered the last few teams we faced that season. even in the smouldering wreck of that season, we immediately took out our anger on the next teams we faced, and those wins were ultimately the start of the invincible run. there's still levels to go for these boys

Not confident to play it out without Zinch so went long with poor return, and Odegard had to drop deeper to get onto the ball. Hard to find anyone to praise, and a Kiwior shocker to stamp out the bright spark of the last few games. Out with a whimper.

Thought this analysis was pretty spot on. Many times we almost intercepted their high risk bait, could have scored from one of those. Second half they pretty much dominated us mentally tactically physically whatever. They have taken the Guardiola play out from the back bait to another level of risk

Yeah we were shit but there was a clear foul for their first goal and just before their second goal Caicedo wrestled Gabriel to the ground in the box. Not even a check for both incidents. It’s possible to win games when playing badly. We just never get the chance because we get screwed by the refs in every single game. Honestly don’t know why I watch this bullshit league anymore. VAR has made the game more fair pretty much everywhere but somehow in England they managed to use it to make the game more corrupt and more unfair and even more skewed towards teams who kick the shit out of the opponent for 90 minutes. And we can’t even join them because they’re always ready to give Arsenal red cards.

Have to say I’m despondent this morning. Don’t know if it’s reality finality kicking in on the title race or the manner of how we dropped away.

Shame we couldn’t push it all the way but it’s been a great ride regardless. Time for some RnR.

Disappointing end to a very enjoyable season. Let's see what the summer and next campaign hold.

I've a feeling if we'd played at 2 o'clock yesterday we'd have been a lot better. This teams been running on vibes for a lot of the season and I think Citys win yesterday probably took the last of that out of us. Its been a good season, if anyone had offered us over 80 points at the start of the season we'd have taken it gladly. The best teams come back stronger from disappointment, now its time for the Kroenkes to show they are serious. They've backed Arteta to here through an awful lot of lows, no back him to reach the highest highs.
