Teams like City are rarely predicted to drop points. That hasn't stop them from dropping points to Everton, Forest, Brentford and 5 other games this season.

Yup. If you were to predict every match result before the season started, City would probably end up with 105+ points because the most propable outcome of a match is almost always a City win.
However, if you were to predict how many points they'd get, you wouldn't say 105+.

Whilst that chart is annoying, it ignores the fact that City were hot on our heels for the entire season. At best, having played an equal number of games, we were only 8 (?) points ahead, but on average it was only ever 3-5 points. That's nothing. In other seasons we'd be run away champions but this isn't another season and we're not competing against just anyone. We're competing against by far the single best domestic club in PL history in terms of accumulated points over a cycle.

But yeah, it sucks we are top three on that list.

In other seasons as in some seasons before City got rich? Because this isn't a special season, it's become par for the course for a few years now.
And even if City didn't, Liverpool did it as well.

In most seasons 90 points (which is what we get if we win every remaining game) isn't enough to be "run away champions".

Clrnc Ran some quick numbers, title winners in the five years before Pep averaged about 86 points, runners up about 80. Since, title winners have averaged about 95, runners up about 85. I guess we are right on track for a post-Pep second place finish of around 85 points. Pre-Pep, we'd have been a good shout of bagging the title.

Don't think I've ever been as constantly nervous as I was when we were holding on during that Liverpool game. My heart was racing and pounding to the point where i needed to leave the room for a minute lol. Not even during the CL final, although tbh I watched that one stoned with some mates.

That's why this weird combination of being proud of what's undoubtedly one of the best ever Arsenal seasons, while also demanding in paranoiac fashion that we don't sleep on that praise for more than a microsecond is the order of the day.

I don't love Arteta's work in the last few weeks in various ways, but I can't fault him for always telling the squad how much he supports them while never ever hinting that losing is acceptable.

goon It's nuts, isn't it? Literally got to go into a season thinking "right, we'll have to win at least 30 games here to be in the mix".

When one has unlimited loot and an admittedly top coach, it appears that this is a realistic expectation. For the rest, it's a big ask (barring use of Juergen Klopp's Viking Berserker slurpees).

CL football is absolutely crucial, and despite us looking like we will fall short we also pushed City for most of the season and have a young exciting team. As a player looking at us why wouldn't you want to join?

I think as a youngster I can imagine preferring say Brighton, some might notice no one gets much of a look in outside the first XI at Arteta's Arsenal.

I like to read stuff like this (from the Independent above) because it'll be pretty shit if we squander our budget on one overpriced midfielder this summer.

Arteta and the club board are still intent on being highly strategic, and will not spend huge fees for the sake of it. Rice is a key target, but Arsenal may revive interest in Brighton's Moises Caicedo, with Bayer Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby and Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi among players they are also looking at.

Since you're asking, I guess some will choose City for a better chance of winning trophies while some will go to United because they also have CL and will offer a higher salary than we do. But yes, many will choose us.
