I see some Saka bashing going on in this thread. Couple of points: 1. shame on you. 2. The guy has been run into the ground every season because we don't have a squad. Don't blame Saka, blame management. 3. Wouldn't swap him for any winger bar Vini Jr.

Gurgen just in case anyone took my comments on Saka as "bashing", I completely agree with you Gurgen and would also add that the kid is already pretty much in my top 5 favourite ever Arsenal players. I love him.

Clrnc Trouble is it actually looks like they're worse than us, if anything. Shocking how drastic our loss of confidence has been, but yeah, if we were just pulling up to this level with City after playing all season in second, we'd be very excited about it.

Beating Chelsea and Newcaslte will go some way towards lifting the mood and get everyone remembering that we’re actually pretty good at the football. But also, despite everything, by the time we’ve finished playing our penultimate game we will still be in it if we win our remaining games and I think that’s important. Force them to win their games.

They are likely to drop at least some points. If we do get six points from our next two (and it's not easy) then things will start to feel a bit edgy again.

goon I think Chelsea and Newcastle will tell us a lot about the character of this squad. How tough are they, how professional are they. I want to see us get back into form now with the pressure off and just do our thing. If we collapse completely I think it'll disrupt next season. If we can get back to being ourselves and push City hard for the rest of the season then we can start next season confident and ready to challenge again.

Qwiss yeah exactly. Which is why I remember saying they can only be judged at the end of the season. It's a marathon not a race.

Clrnc second time this happened so hopefully Arteta learns from this. You don't start going full tilt until you're close to the finishing line not in the first half, if you look at it almost every team that ends up winning titles does so in the second half of the season.

Napoli this season are an exception but on their first half's form they'd have been favourites for the CL instead they get knocked out by Milan. Leao the 'moments' player picks his moments so that his team win the title and get to a CL semi etc

14/15 Madrid won something ridiculous like 25 consecutive games in the winter, they start gassing and Barcelona win the treble thanks to a push from Suarez in Jan. The year after Barca look even better early on but lose composure and Madrid take the first of b2b2b CLs.

Artetas shown he's a Guardiola acolyte who can build something really good when provided with the right players. If we keep backing him in the summer or maybe he starts learning some flexibility/trusting players he's not 100% behind we could go further. Nelson after that Bournemouth cameo getting 30 more minutes over the span of ten games is absolutely criminal let's be honest

goon Who's "everyone"? You could be forgiven for laughing at Guardiola for sticking with Bravo who was past it when he came to City (even that fall off came unexpectedly quick) but don't think many outside dumb yer da pundits thought it was really a dumb decision in general did they

jones everyone probably a gross overstatement but there were a few who thought it was dumb (I think Klaus in particular raging against the idea but may be wrong) and many more who thought the importance was overstated compared to being a 'goalkeeper'. Even I didn't fully appreciate it until I saw Emi and Ramsdale come in and transform how we play out the back.

Saka is absolutely world class, unless your definition is literally one player in each position and even then you'd have to consider him. He's been run into the ground for three years straight so a drop off is natural.

goon fair enough can't remember if that happened. Doesn't really mean that every decision these guys make has to be correct though, we've seen a number of insane Guardiola decisions in the CL in particular over the years.

Not the best example to pick anyway, pretty sure Akanji has played on the left for City against us while left footed Laporte was kept on the bench.

After leading so long it feels hard to swallow we won't win the title but the season isn't over. It is important to finish strongly and finish as close to City as we can. There is a tiny chance City might drop points, I don't see anyway we finish above them but at least try to finish as close as possible. Finish this season as well as we can and get prepared for next season.

jones I agree it is worrying that same time last season we dropped off massively. This season we have to be fair been an exceptional level before this wobble but our players look completely flat. I hope it isn't something to do with our training.

For the record I already mentioned in another thread that I'm happy with the team and its progress this season. It's beyond my own wildest hopes for the season that's for sure, and I've greatly enjoyed the ride.

But it has been a really disappointing end to it all. We seem to have run into a wall, mentally or physically or both, and it happened last term as well, albeit with a different goal. This is why I'm hoping quality additions to central midfield, defence and perhaps even attack should give us the squad and firepower we need to compete so we don't manifest these single point of failure collapses like we have in the past two seasons with Partey and Saliba respectively.

The challenge will be sustaining our form through the entire year next term. And also figuring out a different way to play that's equally as effective when we don't have Zinchenko.

Was feeling a bit bitter looking at the table this morning. Convert West Ham and Southampton to wins and the whole season's still very evenly poised. Frustrating stuff.

You have to work so hard to get in the position we've been in all you can really do is praise the hard work and cling to a little hope.

Would've said they could drop points against Fulham today but without mitrovic it's a big ask. Then again the dropped points to Forest so you never know.
