Mirth Trossard signing was a bit like Liverpool getting VVD. You take one of the best performing players outside the top 6. Dropping him was wrong, didn't even juggle the 2. Just dropped straight up. Form and quality didn't matter.

It's a bottle job though 100%. Few players really gone in to their shells over the last few. Horrendous individual mistakes, weird subs from the manager, two 2nil leads dropped (against a vulnerable Liverpool and fucking West ham ffs), gifting a 1st goal and ending up conceding 3 to Southf'ampton.

It hurts boys, really does.

Lukazan For all of the good things he's done, Arteta's got to take some of the responsibility here. He's presided over a couple of these key moment meltdowns now. The best managers guide their teams through these spells. They reduce the pressure. They minimise the effects of injuries. They use depth. They effectively adjust strategy and tactics. Ultimately, they win.

Maybe Mikel needs more better players but for me, he's got a bit to prove in this regard.

Need to find a way to start Martinelli and Trossard, and if that comes at Jesus' expense so be it.

Could also bring Trossard in for Xhaka, but that will be an incredibly porous midfield. Odegaard is doing nearly nothing to help control midfield/possession these days.

I would even consider a 3-5-2 with Saka as a "wingback" to accommodate this.

Qwiss there wasn't much argument against it at the time, but in hindsight dropping a trossard in career form looks like a mistake. should've kept him in the 11 and jesus in a cameo/sub role until it stopped working. but again, that's hindsight. the line of thinking to get jesus up to speed ASAP wasn't too crazy an idea

So we'll be playing City again when our confidence is at rock bottom, just like when we played them earlier this year at the Emirates. So frustrating 'cos I think we could have shocked them at the Etihad if we were firing on all cylinders. As it stands, our chance of getting something out of that game is inconsequential given how both teams are playing

Qwiss True, maybe it would suit us going into that game as massive underdogs. I mean, everyone expects us now to lose. However, I'm very pessimistic about our chances because we will be facing a very experienced City side that are playing at their absolute best and they know how to navigate these sort of matches very well.

Reminds me of some of the mid to later Wenger teams. Capable of playing sublime football, but when put under pressure - physically or mentally - they'll crumble.
