The tone was set from Match day 1. We don't start our best team and have tried to wing it with most of our backup players. It's not a surprise that we've come unstuck against the first decent side we've faced.
There's not much you can take out of this or previous campaigns. It's being managed like it's the Carabao Cup.

Huge learning experience for this young contingent. Balanced over 200+ minutes. Real shame about that 2nd half where just didn't have any presence or intent. This is going to be intriguing now with their GK on fire.

daredevil it’s important in this title run to get players ramped up. We have Jesus, Vieira, Tomi, ESR etc. who all need proper minutes to get integrated into the team. Without this competition, rotation becomes a lot lot harder.

I agree. My point was that we weren't participating in this competition like a team aiming to win it, but rather using it as an avenue to build up the squads fitness.
