banduan certainly felt like elements of that structure; I have been hoping for a while to see core pivot of Ødegaard (deeper) and Rice, and a front two interchanging pivot of Havertz/Trossard and Jesus. Would work great with Tomiyasu or White overlapping like they did on a small pitch, and later even the way Zinchenko was engaging. Could be a nice one to try on New years eve again but won't be surprised if we see in the immediate term again.
I also liked the three way interchange in positional roles between Martinelli, Havertz and Jesus. Didn't feel like that was happening in a 4-4-2 all the time, but definitely some of the time. When Martinelli switched into a central role it more often resembled something I'd see from an 8 than just a SS or 10.
It really is astounding how much execution fidelity Arteta can achieve making numerous moderate to minor adjustments with a such a young group of players in year 3. Not saying its often high fidelity, or highly effective, but still very impressive.
