Good thing is he should just slot in like a glove without needing any adaptation. Much easier to fit into to a functioning side as well. Will be interesting to see if Arteta is more willing to sub Partey off now, best way to protect him.

goon yeah I think we'll see that happening quite a bit.
Sounds like he was well respected in the Chelsea dressing room, a positive strong voice in the dressing room certainly will help in the last stretch of the season.
lorddulaarsenal so out of interest did anyone use that at work?
lorddulaarsenal No, but I’m sure you did?
He turned 31 a month ago, he's in his prime for the position he plays and the type of player he is.
A player like Jorginho is nothing without structure around him. He simply isn't a well rounded enough player to thrive in a hopeless, messy Chelsea team. And he would have been a complete disaster here 3 years ago, too.
But in this side... he really could be something.
Delighted to see he's another big character and leader also. We're making a habit out of collecting those.
James repeatedly and to the same folk I’d said it earlier to!
Ricky1985 spot on chum
Have a read o’this and you’ll smile
Nice full debut. Finds players between the lines well.
Mac Allister, Kudus or SMS needed this summer
Just leaving this here.
Still think he, Xhaka and Zinky is a balance issue but Jorginho isn't the one I'd rest right now.
good player when we're on top in games and camped in the oppo half. ideally, he's not starting too many league games, particularly harem scarem away games. think he'll be very handy in the Europa League for us
We needed someone who could step in when Partey is out, last two games imo our game hasn't dropped anywhere near as much as it usually does when Partey misses out for us.
Outside of the boot for the goal? baller intent.
I think even the most ardent critics of this signing (myself dead centre) already recognised Jorginho's technique, his frequent minimalism which is easy on the eye and how he plays at a tick and tempo suitable and stable to our game. He's come to work and that intention to shoot tells me he was absorbed in the game.
On the ball traits weren't high on my list for the needed midfield squad depth though and I am dreading what better sides will do against us. Having the FB tuck in and stay in first phase seems a heavy compensation price, if indeed one would view it as compensation for our questionable overall midfield dynamism.
Think it's the balance as Qwiss suggests. In any given game there will be a period of sustained pressure from the opposition when we will be tested and given how much the likes of Xhaka and Odegaard have left if the field this season we will be slightly vulnerable with this trio.
Gabriel's passion
Qwiss agree there is a balance issue, but the quality is clear. His through balls are top top quality.
One thing to watch. Last few games, Arteta fought Trossard off the bench for Martinelli until today when Trossard started. He’s been bringing Vieira on for Xhaka so wouldn’t be surprised if Vieira replaced the Swiss soon.
Only issue to think about is transition D. Jorginho as some have mentioned is slow. If Zinchenko is pushed up, Gabriel is isolated. One solution is to play 343 with no striker. Either way there are concessions
