He would have been a great influence in the changing room in terms of experience and professionalism. As would El Neny before him. I wonder if there will be any desire to bring someone else of that profile in to replace those aspects.
the one chelsea reject I found tolerable
I really thought he'd stay on to become one of Arteta's assistants or something.
Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert He's born in Brazil so maybe fancies a chance to play there for a bit before thinking about hanging up his boots. He is only 33 so still has a bit to offer but needs to be in a slower less frantic league.
Defo looks like coaching material.
Good luck to him, wish him all the best. A shame we didn't sign him a few years earlier, even when his legs were going you could see what quality he possessed. He came in and more often than not performed for us. His run in the team last season is what really propelled us towards our title challenge and really allowed Rice to show what he can do higher up.
He was known to be a leader in the dressing room, no doubt helped a lot of young players and even on the touch line was like Arteta's man who could get higher up the pitch and shout instructions.
Till date, my favorite thing about him was the audio for the Aubameyang FA Cup final winning goal.
"Right Zou, right Zou!
AhH Zoou..."
He can get stuffed.
Message to Arsenal: stop getting ex Chavs. If those guys are selling their players to us, they're not good enough or too pricey, or both.
flobaba I mean, both Havertz and Jorginho improved us...whilst Chelsea have been flailing around buying players I don't even recall because they never play.
flobaba That is a bit harsh on him, I think Jorginho has done a decent job for us. Likewise for Havertz.
Don Pacifico we definitely got the better side of the Havertz and Jorginho deals. We really miss Havertz. We were uneven before his injury but our form has fallen off a cliff since his injury. We are basically a midtable team since.
Don Pacifico don't care. Don't like him. Inherently dislike anyone who has played for Chelsea. My beef runs deep.
Claudius we definitely got the better side of the Havertz and Jorginho deals.
We didn't get the better side of the Havertz deal. We way over paid and cleared their wage bill of a player who is on more than he's worth. He's done alright for us after he got moved up front but lets not lie to ourselves here.
JazzG eh, I'm a supporter of his (against the idiots)- he puts it all out there, but I know he's also one of those "almost" players most of the time.
Qwiss I donβt know. Look at his output and compare forwards and midfielders bought in a similar timeframe. Who is getting better deals than us exactly. Arsenal fans are like my dad who thinks everything should cost what it did in 1995
MistaT yeah thats probably fair.
Claudius he's one of the top 10 highest earners in the league (or at least was before the Jan transfer window), he's not one of the top 10 players, not close.
Scroll up to some of the comments in early 2024 - Jorginho was a good signing as depth. Kept us in 2 title races longer than we would have managed without him.
Good signing and good professional. All the best Jorg.
@Qwiss and @Claudius -- surely it's too early to decide on the Havertz deal. His contract runs through 2028 and we'll only know his value - and our "return" - once we find out if a new striker dislodges him and how he reacts.
flobaba to be fair, you don't seem to like many players who play for us either. π
I'm one of the idiots. I'll be relieved when he's no longer listed on the .com.
Yeah, but only cos many of them are/were mid, and we deserve better.
I like Timber. Ben White's replacement.
I like MLS. Zinchenko's replacement.
I like Raya. Ramsdale's replacement.
And I will love Martinelli's replacement. Just you wait! π
