Jorginho is great for penning teams in and setting the tempo. He becomes a bit of a liability when our press is bypassed and we end up in a defensive transition. It was funny seeing Ramsdale and Martinelli taking the piss out of him tracking back on one of the counters 😆

Very good footballer though and a better squad option than you’re likely to find elsewhere. Would sign him up for another year or two.

I'm just glad he had shown what the team is missing.. hopefully we go out and get an elite 6 in the summer with similar qualities. although I don't see that many about.... It's the type of DM I wanted to sign in the summer before we got Rice... and while Rice has been brilliant, the balance of the midfield is still sorely missing that skill set... Don't want to be relying on only him or Party next season to stay fit

Arteta has blown me away this season at how he has got the team to dominate areas of the pitch, not seen anything like it in this way, but areas where teams excel in can sometimes become an obsession and then a teams downfall...I hope he appreciates how useful it is having that mix in midfield is.

RocktheCasbah Agreed. I was one who didn't want him. Mainly because I was fed up signing players Chelsea no longer wanted just for them to be awful for us, and also due to memories of that game against us when he should have been sent off and ended up scoring the winner. But he’s been mostly excellent when he’s played and should have played more in the run in last season. By far the best signing we’ve made from Chelsea, albeit the bar is pretty low.

invisibleman18 there were different issues with the Chelsea players then. Ozil wasn’t a Chelsea player but he sat in the stands under his parasol. Mustafi wasn’t a Chelsea player… and so on. We just had a very low performance culture. And players came in and adopted it. The whole top 4 as an ambition really killed us. It weathered everything - recruiting, training and playing intensity.

Once we started forming identity 3 years ago, our recruiting made sense. I’d be happy to take more players from Chelsea. Enzo, Gusto, for example, would be good additions here. Even Caicedo, who is a complete shadow of himself right now.

Claudius I was probably in a minority at the time but I never wanted Suarez for these reasons as I felt anything he achieved for us would have been tainted by the cheating, violent and racist ways he would have got there.

It made me sooo mad that whole top four thing with Wenger. I remember always coming here and saying how much I wanted us to drop out . How that was enough for some people I would never understand. Now we are where we need to be. We should have sacked doddering Wenger sooner and got our act together much quicker but I guess at least we are finally there or thereabouts now. Wasted about a decade or our lives in that unambitious, failure is acceptable, mindset.

I think I had a "Zero dickheads?" thread a while back after the clearout was well underway. Fully agree anyway, it was painful during that spell when so many of our regulars were passengers, grifters and morons.

goon I would go as far as to say he's one of our most creative outlet. No use putting an extra attacker on if we need to attack, rather have him passing through the lines
