Was amazing today. Reminded me of Arteta in his heyday with us with all his game management and street smartness. Something Partey lacks imo. Very intelligent player.

I think we may forget this guy has played some of the biggest games in world football such as the CL and Euro Finals.

That’s what you call a leader. You could tell it wasn’t Flamini or Mustafi pointing and shouting with no substance, he was actually dictating things. Think he set the tempo with his aggression and sharpness too.

Not using him more in those difficult weeks, at least as a sub, may be another ‘what if’ thought in Artetas head. But we can only learn.

Feel he's been given a very raw deal in the view of fans since signing. He's been great. No idea why he hasn't been used more before the last two.

Brave decision by Arteta to play him today, Newcastle had so much energy and it would have been easy to go back to Partey for this game,

Lukazan Both our January signings have been fantastic, Jorginho has had a few ropey moments but overall been very good imo. Partey on top form imo is better but recently Partey has been a bit of a shambles.

He’s so slight. Will be able to play on for several more years.

He'll always be a compromise signing. Gets totally dominated physically, and can't run. Top technique but he's a stop gap, so it is what it is.

Coombs agree that Jorginho has glaring physical weaknesses but his technical ability and mentality are huge plus points that’s contributed to a successful career.

He’s got attributes that we don’t have in the squad and should have been brought into the first 11 sooner

Arteta is the perfect coach for him.

When Arteta came here, he had lost that mobility due to a major injury at Everton and then changed his game to play far deeper.

Jorginho's always played deep but he can learn about the defensive side of things from Mikel.

To me, his best attribute is not being Partey. Should certainly have started him more based on that alone, and I said as much when we signed him. Doubly worse that we didn't when Partey was clearly out of form.

As long as we start to learn how to rotate based on form we will be even better next season.

Actually thought he had a mixed game yesterday. Clearly played a big role in our midfield being able to dominate the game after the first 10 mins of each half and allowed Odegaard more freedom to receive the ball a little higher up the pitch. Having said that, he was also terrible defensively. That chance for Willock after the misses by Martinelli and Saka was caused almost exclusively by Jorginho allowing Willock to run off him with no attempt made to track him whatsoever (Willock starts level with him and ends 20 yards ahead in the space of 3 passes). 2-3 other incidents like that during the game make me think that he is too porous to be a starting lone #6 for us. I think we need a more dynamic player in there especially given our high-risk game with Zinchenko abandoning all pretenses of being a defender.

Really like the football we play with him in the team. Fits well as one of the two in front of the defence

Wonder will Arteta start the season with Jorginho playing as the 6 with Rice at 8. Rice would be good for covering Jorginhos short comings and vice versa.

Most underrated player in our squad imo.

Think ppl have issues with him because a) his age and b) where he came from

The pass to Saka today was Ozil esque and I think he’s starting building a great partnership with Rice.

Guy deserves more respect, most decorated player we have. How many CL and Euros combined winners in our rivals squads? He is a leader as well.

He is more useful than Partey as availability is so important in modern football. Think Jorg’s only had 3 injuries in his career and one of them was a flu (touch wood)

Great pass for the second goal. Gets caught far too often and will be targeted ruthlessly by good opposition.

lots of sloppy give-aways too. his ability under pressure used to be an asset but it has deteriorated badly with age. that will continue to cost us

Isn't he on an 18-month contract? If so, this should be his last season for us hopefully. Should bring in experienced cover for Rice in the summer. In an ideal world, I'd want us to bring in K. Thuram which will give us the flexibility we have to move Rice between 6 and 8 depending on the opposition.

So we have an option for next year, I think thats enough, no need to keep him for an extra one, I don't think I want to see 34 year old Jorginho try to run
