I think Chelsea will get him because our priority is Rice, in fact it's still not clear if we even want both or if it's either/or. Ornstein hinted the latter though it seemed like guess work based because he didn't think we would spend that much.

I'd absolutely love both, but if we do get Rice then I'm not sure spending another £70-80m on Caicedo is worth it. You can overpay for one midfielder, can you overpay for two? Can't make my mind up.

The youngsters signing is great but many of them have the Arsenal emotional connection having grew up here so it’s an easier sell.

Clrnc I just can't get over how outlandish the potential fees are. The idea of one £80m+ player alone seems crazy to me given how much we've spent over the last few years. I'm also still under the (potentially misguided) belief that the club engage in a bit of misdirection from time to time in terms of transfer targets. I'm not doubting interest in either player but it's the same bracket as us hypothetically being interested in Bellingham too...we reasonably want the best players on the market, we just don't normally land them.

flobaba Love a bit of Sade, hadn't heard that one though and just gave it a listen (excellent as ever). Arsenal certainly haven't been my lover's rock in the last few years...

Yeah agree, i think he's got to be a priority as well if you are looking to build a team for the future. Young player, can play a variety of roles I think him and Rice should be on the table.

Mirth well, i'll put it this way -it would be an 8/10 window. Add to that a first team ready winger or striker and it would be a 10/10 window. I really don't feel fully comfortable going into a season knowing that if Gabriel gets injured or loses form we're going to be reliant on Nketiah for consistent goal scoring. In my view CF is the other position where the delta between primary and substitute option is a bit too much, and that's despite Eddie's actually decent showing last term.

We are competing against City. They are monsters. We can't afford not to increase our base quality to as high a level as possible!

Absolutely. Midfield is key to everything and that would sort ours for the next 5 years at least.
