Brighton officially wants 75m, so we are not far off. And they are sensible unlike Shakthar. They have already trying to sign Haidara so they will definitely let Caicedo go so they have money for Matvienko too.

It all make sense now. The 70m guaranteed we have saved from Mudryk will now go to Caicedo or another top CM this window. Which is why we didn't want to break the bank and compromise this signing. It's quite obvious the spare 20-40m we didn't want to up had to go to either a spare CM, or a spare winger depending on if we get Mudryk or not + Fresneda/Kiwior.

Lets get it done ASAP. Guaranteed he will be a fan favorite once we signed him. And don't need to be held ransom for Rice in the summer too. Win-win

Chelsea probably preparing a 10 year contract right now! They probably will get involved so need to wrap this up quickly if we want him.

I can't see us getting him for the reasons already mentioned by others but it's now very clear that we have a range of targets that we'll cycle through if we don't get him. Only a few days to go, so need to be sure we have a few pans in the fire.

Really hope we've got Caicedo on the hook personally though. He'd be ideal.

Qwiss hopefully we have a back up lined up too who we're a little more certain about bringing in, but with 4 days left I worry any backup option might be Douglas Luiz desperation level. Would rather overpay for this lad than waste 25m on a player with no real prospects.

We have a very good relationship with Brighton, having paid up what they wanted for both Trossard and White. Get Caicedo now, then target Mitoma in the summer. 😆

pretty swift rejection. it will take 75m to get it done I reckon. not too invested in the outcome here, feels like a long shot. reckon we might try one more time, fail, and keep powder dry for summer

I wonder why we even bothered submit a bid of 60m. Seems fair to not value him higher but surely the club is aware that Brighton would not accept that.
