Part of the calculus has to be maintaining a reputation to the young, in-demand players they persuade to sign that they're not only a great environment to showcase their talent, but also that they will play fair when the player has a chance to make a huge step up.
Obviously, this is mid-season for them, but it's not like they can't go out and get a midfielder that can do a job for them for the rest of the season.
