The market is interesting. You can do the really hard work and take the risks of finding a gem like Brighton and Leicester have been doing. Or you can pay big and secure their players once they’ve played enough top level games for you to have a good enough sample of their abilities.
We are doing the right thing at this point in our cycle. We can’t go look for the next Caicedo. We need players good enough that if we swap out Partey and Xhaka, we can remain on the 90-95 point pace required to beat Pep. Once we have a core of stars in place, we can go back to looking for uncut gems. But right now it has to be about getting a title.
I only trust Jesus, Trossard, Tomi, Tierney, Turner to rotate in and keep us at that City level right now. Vieira and healthy ESR can do Europa. Kiwior TBD . It’s not quite enough for two trophies during March and April.
