Clrnc They actually replaced him initially with Cancelo, another player great at inverting who is a bit ropey in defence! The move to Ake only came later as City kept getting done in transition, probably more towards second half of last season. They also got better defensively when they put John Stones in midfield with Rodri.
We did buy our replacement for him in Timber, we were just unfortunate that he's missed most of the season.
Qwiss Clrnc Its also no coincidence we are looking better overall without him. He does some good things and has loads of ability but he's a defensive liability and he's way overrated in possession. He's slow to move the ball and while he can pass through the line well he doesn't create chances much like say Alexander Arnold does. IMO we are better without him and we should move on because when he's fit we play through him too much and its just not the most efficient for us.
To compare him to Trent is a bit harsh, Trent is possibly one of the finest in that role that we have seen in many years. Defensively he is a liability and we can't rely on him against top sides he definitely has a role to play in the squad.
