Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert our possession stats, and some of the records we are seeing (I think Saliba hit top 5 passes ever made by a single player in a game ever this season - on that day he outpassed the entire Sheffield United team on his own in a 6-0 victory) completely destroys the notion that Arteta does not care about actually playing football. He was average at best yesterday and so was everyone else. Anyone putting blame on him alone is overreacting. I didn't think he was good but he also wasn't the worst

Whole team looked absolutely knackered in the first 30 minutes of the second half. Just feels like the squad as currently built just ran out of steam this year in both the league and UCL, which is what competing with nation-states will do to you. Still feel like we are only a couple of players away from being right there at this point next year though.

I don't know. After the season is over I wouldn't be surprised if our points haul in the second half of the season is better than City's while the haul in the first half is worse.

QuincyAbeyie Good point - I bet you will be right if we can finish these last 6 games strong but I'm nervous of what we are going to have in the tank over these last games and that's likely coloring my statement above. Hope I am wrong!

Claudius I feel like Saka is having a good season. Outside Odegaard, he’s usually the one who we look to to spark our offense. He’s constantly taking double teams and taking the game to opponents. Was very involved in the first half when we looked good.
For comparison, he’s on 31 G/A (5 pen)for the year versus 32 for Foden in pretty much the same minutes. Foden shoots more, Saka carries more and defends more.

Combination of things. Seeing Saka in person, how much easier the game is for him than the players around him, and then looking at these numbers made me realise this chap doesn’t get half the respect he deserves. He’s basically matching Palmer, Salah and Foden on offense; while still putting a defensive shift. The kid is special and I wish he got more recognition. He’s much better than Foden and Palmer.

Claudius we're asking for a superforward, someone like Salah. How would Salah look if he had Saka's tasks defensively? You won't get someone with prime Salah's attacking output and Saka's defensive work.

Arteta learning to properly understudy and rotate the likes of Ødegaard, Saka, Rice and White will extend the type of season long two-way efforts we've enjoyed this year over a couple of extra seasons ... squaddies of Vieira and Nelson's ilk are not what's needed

Burnwinter this is the summer to upgrade. We have an excellent group of starters plus Trossard and Jorginho. Now we need to get 2-3 more starters. No back-ups. Back-ups don’t play much on a team at our level.

For the main game, sure. I'd be keen to see some of the upcoming Hale End lads in an Arsenal team next season. As far as the first XI goes, if we're not dropping the bag on replacing Partey and getting in a goalscorer, we're doing it wrong.

QuincyAbeyie this was basically what Salah was doing 4 years ago defensively. And still cranking out more goals. Liverpool style has changed a lot since their heyday.

Qwiss Foden is very close.

They're very different players. Saka is much more rounded and clever in the way he goes about playing the game, Foden is more limited but makes up for it with his insane technical ability. His ball striking and ball control is crazy.
