Burnwinter yes, 2009 Fabregas wasn't my favourite version of him. I didn't like how we pushed him further forward from that year onwards.

I loved 2004-2008 Fabregas, and I'm not sure Saka is quite in that galaxy, but it's a different era.

Cesc 2004-2008 is prob top 2/3 Emirates player ever.

He used to dominate big games including big away games. Want Saka to do that starting with City away coming up , not sure if he’s ever had a good game there, in the FA cup game he was in Ake’s pocket.

Cesc away at Liverpool 2007/2008 was a masterclass for example and even scored.

Yes and was only 18.

His best and most dominant display was either Man Utd at home (2-2) or Milan away when he scored in 2007/2008.

What I loved about Cesc the most was his iconic celebrations (Spurs and Milan especially). If Saka wants to be WC he needs to do that (ok I kid about this one).

Sicario2 It's interesting that one of the games you pick out to heap praise on Cesc is a game we didn't even win. I dunno, I'm speculating but from what you've said in here and your general posting style, I can't help think if Saka put in a great performance against a top side at home but we didn't pick up the win, you'd use it as a stick to beat him with and downplay the actual performance of the individual.

Fabregas would always fall apart post Christmas aside from 2006. Was a pretty big flaw and he was certainly not as consistent as you make out.

can't agree, it's still solid af. People have just set the bar higher and higher.

He does need competition for his place though to push him further.

This is one of the best players in Europe you're talking about. He's had a tough couple of games, sure, but he's also one of the cornerstone of this Arsenal side.

Saka’s clean. Don’t see the clumsiness. What he does that’s different from a lot of peers is varies his efforts - in contrast to Jesus who is 100% all game. And then he likes to really slow down when in possession and then burst. Part of what disorients defenders. So it has a lazy air about it at times but I imagine defenders fear him like few others.

When Saka has an off day it's usually because the opposition devoted its resources to stopping him. Wasn't just that against Porto but that's a rarity. And despite the attention he's still racking up lofty numbers.

Was watching something and they were showing a defensive map of all the Porto defenders and where they cocentrated during the game when it came to tackles, blocks and challenges. It was literally 75-80% on Saka's side of the pitch. They were laser focused on him the whole game, he couldn't really do too much. I suspect if Martinelli was playing, that migght have been a bit different. Trossard is great, and he scored our goal, but Gabby just offers way more pace and the abililty to run at (and beat) defenders that a team cannot put all their focus on Saka.

USArsenal yeah. It probably doesn’t help that all our attacking players except Trossard were clustered around Odegaard. So would’ve made it easier to concentrate defensive resources as well.

On Saka, we must also give credit to the experienced Wendell who just knew how to guard him.
