Qwiss The problem with Saka at the moment is he's expected to win the game on his own and when it doesn't happen people are getting on his back. He's still an excellent player but he needs support. Without Eze or Ode he was always up against it yesterday. Also this should be all the evidence people need to give up the false narrative that White makes Saka better compared to Timber.
Mr Qwiss, can I build on this. I think we the fans potentially mischaracterize Saka's playing style, and that leads to heightened perception that he is underperforming. I tend to classify him as a creator-finisher rather than a pure take-on winger. Earlier in his career, he had more dribbles, but now he tends to balance 1-on-1s with link up play - especially with the full back and right 8. Even when he does beat defenders, it's not through constant volume like Madueke. He tends to use timing, body feints, quick changes of pace to create seperation. In terms of link-up, he likes ball to feet in half spaces, and combintions (short passes, wall passes, underlaps and overlaps), or controlled carries into the box versus long dribbling runs. I think his style really benefits from how he collaborates with teammates.
