daredevil Ask yourself for a second exactly why his average stats for last season are lower
Saka
- Edited
He lasted the whole of last season, he also lasted the whole of the season before that and the season before that too.
Saka is one of the fittest and most reliable players we have in the team. Instead of celebrating this fact, it's used as a stick to beat Arteta with.
There is absolutely no evidence to show that he is playing any more football than his peers. In fact, we've been out of the CL for years and he's had the fortune of playing once a week for most of that period.
People have completely forgotten what the demands of top level football actually are, from Fabregas to Henry to Alexis Sanchez. These guys played twice a week for long stretches of the season. Saka has never broken 50 games in a season. Yet, people have been losing their shit over Saka long before he's ever been exposed to CL football.

Name one top level footballer who is the talisman of the team who gets treated this way.
Name just one.
Honestly, I would like to know, as I've never seen this attitude towards any other Arsenal player we've ever had.

Obviously, a myriad of reasons, but I wasn't drawing attention to the difference in his season stats. But rather that he's fit and firing and people already want him constantly rotated or subbed off at halftime.
That's getting more to the root cause of peoples concerns. People are afraid that he's going to get injured, and like you rightly said, that risk exists regardless. He might as well stop playing the game altogether.

daredevil He might as well stop playing the game altogether.
In that case, his lack of injuries wouldn't help us. In the case of resting him when he's not needed, a lack of injuries/deterioration of form would help us.
Like mentioned above, it's also good for the squad players.
Also weird to say that people want him constantly rotated when he's never rotated. That people always say they want him rotated while he isn't obviously does not mean they want him to always be rotated - if he was rotated a bit more they wouldn't say it.

People's deep rooted concerns about an injury risk aren't going to dissipate if he was rotated once, twice, or even thrice. He was taken off against PSV at the 70th minute a couple weeks ago, and no less than two weeks later, people were at it again asking to sub him off at half time, hell some even wanted him on the bench during the pre-match talk.
At the end of the day, it's very likely, and I said as much last season, that he will play more football this season than ever before. You know, like your Haaland's and Salah's and all other top level CL footballers.
If you don't think Saka is capable, then fair enough, but Arteta seems to think he is and treats him as much.

Okay, so you think people want him rested and fringe players to get minutes when we don't need Saka because they don't rate him highly. Good to know when I consider replying to posts about this subject in the future.
Edit: The post said "If you don't rate Saka highly enough to think he is capable" when I replied.

If he is out on Sunday, Do NOT play Eddie v Citeh. I repeat do NOT play Eddie v Citeh.
He better learn from this and never risk an injured player again. So many fucking times now
only people who are wrong have regrets. it's bukayo who is in the wrong, top footballers can play every minute of every game and he clearly let his manager down by not being a top footballer.
Arteta and admitting to a mistake or regret? Naaah.
It was a dumb thought to play him. He's gone off injured enough times to know something is up.
Clrnc He better learn from this and never risk an injured player again. So many fucking times now
What makes you think he'll learn anything from this? Guarantee he starts on Sunday even if he's 30% fit only to hobble off again.
Sicario2 - Tier 1 what's your front 3 then? Trossard, Jesus and...?
I think that's a big issue for Arteta, he really seems to have difficulty learning from his mistakes and trying to rectify it.
daredevil But rather that he's fit and firing and people already want him constantly rotated or subbed off at halftime
This aged well didn't it
Burnwinter You don't rate Saka highly enough to think he is capable?
Leaker says Saka will play against Citeh before deleting the tweet
Who leaked it? @m8arteta?
Conor Marble Halls?
i thought con harrison was an english person. he spelled "his" like how someone with borat's accent pronounces it.
Hamstring? ffs let the boy rest, physio and watch some cartoons
KingslandBarge
that's not what the great players do though. hamstrings are a state of mind, not something you need to be great.

“He is in contention, we'll see how he progresses from here to Sunday,” the boss said. “Obviously he had to leave the pitch [against RC Lens], that's never good news, but let's see how he recovers.”
I'm worried he is going to end up out for a long time if this continues. He better be on the bench only.
Nice 1 Southgate calling him up for the break too plonker. Hope he withdraws.
Yeah I don't trust Arteta with that call to leave him out. If he is not crocked I feel he is going to play him whatever is going on in terms of carrying injuries.
managers and players aren't suppose to make this call.
We are going to wilshere our Starboy.
Meatwad managers absolutely should. And that's what disappoints me the most in Arteta. Managers should be able to save certain players from themselves. Imagine how far Saka would go for us, how much more of himself he would be willing to give. The boy has been digging deep, exhausted since last season. Players would run through walls for him, and for Arsenal.
And instead of saving such players from themselves he just lets them.

flobaba
his job depends on wins and losses. he doesn't plan on being the arsenal manager in 3-5 years if things go according to plan (and if it goes the other way he'll be fired) so why would he care if arsenal fans get to enjoy saka when he's 27 years old? ride him until the wheels fall off. that's why someone who is paid to evaluate whether a player is match fit and doesn't need rest should be the one making that decision. concussion protocols now exist because nobody gave a shit about the players including themselves, so take it out of their hands.

I get people think Arteta should rest Saka more (I'm inclined to agree) but this is some hot take. Not sure where you're getting this from.
Don Pacifico
a hot take that managers don't give a shit about anything other than their job? why should they care about anything else? or that arteta doesn't plan on being here long term?
anyway, he doesn't have an incentive to save players from themselves, it's a what have you done for me lately job.
Imo it's a hot take that humans don't give a shit about the people they work closely with and don't care about breaking them if they they have plans of switching jobs.
That and the notion that Arteta isn't planning on being here beyond 3 years.
I think it’s on Arteta fwiw and don’t really understand the odd complex he has with Saka. Even out of short term self interest, you’d think he’d want to manage his best players conditioning especially when he’s not in great form.
At the same time I don’t think it’s as dramatic and exciting as some of you lot make out.
