Mudryk has looked terrible for Chelsea. He's has no brains as a player, I don't think Arteta can fix that. We can't take 2 duds from Chelsea in one summer, that'd be a disaster.

Digging abit of research from the Chelsea forums and twitter, apparently Mudryk had a lot of discipline issues right after he joined Chelsea. Seems disinterested to train, low intensity in matches and generally can't be arsed in a Chelsea shirt.

If that's the case maybe no.

Well, you have to assume he was pretty pissed about being turned into the Donetsk owner's political chess piece, and being denied his preferred destination despite the massive sum we bid.

Don't really understand quite how shit he is, as he's very good on the ball and lightning fast. But then, mercurial attacking talents seem to fare worse coming to the Premier League than starlets in other positions. Perhaps it's because their off the ball workload is much greater, and the average defender in the PL is much faster and better.

IF we were to sell ESR to Chelsea I'd only sell for a massive fee, I'm talking the kind of money we paid for Havertz type of money. Then take Mudryk on a loan with purchase option. If he is hungry and wants to make it work, he'll work his arse off to make the move permanent, if not then back to Chelsea you go!

Taking the Smith Rowe exit to Chelsea rumour as one example, the thing that throws me off balance with our squad management is that we so often seem to make decisions (or do nothing) with little or no thought of money.

@Big Willie was giving the example of Pépé, it was like we simply didn't care with him either. We seem to have no concept of the "shop window" at all.

Sounds very unprofessional but I wonder how much of that is due to being forced to play for Chelsea.

daredevil yea thats my read on it. he seemed hellbent on coming to arsenal, then got rugged at the last minute and was forced to go to chelsea. he looked pretty miserable in his unveiling pictures. he still should be professional about it, but hes young and hes human.

Not giving Smith Rowe minutes in preseason or the first three match days, signing Havertz to start ahead of him and not bringing him on even when the German is getting dragged ... so we've pissed him off as much as possible, but also haven't given him any chances to prove he's still got it, and now the window is about to close.

I can see us receiving derisory, speculative bids of £20m for a Hale End player who should be a £50m talent, minimum. The only explanation is that the person making the decisions simply doesn't give a fuck about the money, at all.

I don't think this should be the discussion. If we weren't going to play Saka, we should sell him as well. But that 'dilemma' would ignore the best alternative, which is to keep and play him.

The discussion about whether it's right to sell ESR should be about whether ESR should play more than he's doing or if he should be sold. I think he should play more, at the very least through sub appearances.

Having said that given we're on track to probably sell ESR for £20m to somebody in 12 month's time, I wouldn't object to Mudryk. As £20m project player to sit on the bench and gradually phase in, he'd be alright

He really did. Its one thing proving yourself to be not good enough or being someone who's never actually managed to push their way I to the starting XI, but ESR was a bonafide starting lineup player who was delivering the goods that saved Arteta's bacon.

OK maybe he has different opinion who the better player is, fair enough (I don't think Havertz is better than ESR, although Trossard is, but what do I know?). But to completely starve him of any minutes is mind boggling.

Nelson is another one, hardly ever gets any minutes no matter what's happening. How many minutes did he get in total following Bournemouth last season?

I could see Forest going for Smith-Rowe if they sell Brennan Johnson. In all seriousness, I think that would be a really good landing spot for Emile. One big takeaway from the U-21 Euros was that Gibbs-White and Smith-Rowe have a great chemistry.

Ironic he’s gone to Forest given it was his shocking performance v Forest away in the Cup that ultimately ended his Arsenal career (he was taken off at HT).

KingslandBarge sounds like he had a very mixed season at Marseille despite the early-season goal-scoring form. This is apparently why they didn't consider making it permanent. Given we bought him for about £7m, £12m doesn't seem terrible business to me (particularly given he was pretty woeful for us).

In other news, Gunnerblog says he thinks ESR leaving is very unlikely. Doesn't see us selling him, let alone to Chelsea.
