Qwiss Nope. Balogun would barely play and Nketiah will barely play. We say he's got an attitude problem but he's really just a gifted young footballer who wants to play football. Starting for Inter in thirty matches is a hell of a lot better than playing a bit of Carabao Cup.

This is true. But I think you can be a gifted young player who wants to play football (good) who also has an attitude (bad).

There will be a lot of games where Jesus doesn't start this season, just like last season. Those games are up for grabs, all you have to do is prove you deserve them. And he is trouble, his constant drama via leaks and weird social media passive aggression show that.

No mate, I do trust Arteta ... but Jesus, Trossard and Martinelli are league ready forwards who are currently as good or better than Balogun in his role. Pop Gabi up top at Reims and check how many he scores.

I think you've got to ask yourself whether the situation is:

That Balogun would readily succeed here, he's just too much of a dickhead to wait for a chance that will certainly come this season given his talents, or ...
He is frustrated and pushing for a move because Arteta is refusing to promote him to the first XI or give him any guarantees about selection, and is equally relaxed about shopping him round because he's got other options.

I get the sense Flo's got an ego but if Arteta saw a clear path for him in this squad, this season, he wouldn't be on the market.

But whether he's as good as he thinks he is or whether he's 1/10 as good, being a starter for Inter is much better than fighting it out for the backup position here. Not sure why his level is relevant. As far as I know, he hasn't said that he thinks he's the best striker at the club, only that if he isn't he'd rather leave to play weekly.

Nketiah didn't have that kind of interest when he signed his new deal, so was probably easier to sign a new deal.

Patino is going to be class. High hopes about that. I am suspicious about what kind of dreams Arteta sells some of these players but overall glad if its true Patino has been convinced of a development path at Arsenal, starting with the Swansea loan. Its now a big season for him to break into the team and string some stand out performances, whilst building his box-to-box game further.

But why doesn't Arteta see a path for him? Why does he not want him in the squad? Arteta fought to keep him when his contract was up and managed it, he obviously sees something in him. And his loan went as well as you could hope. Yet Balogun seems to have come back releasing statements about what he demands, changing Arsenal in and out of his socials constantly. I think he's the sort of character that Arteta doesn't want around as opposed to not rating him as a footballer.
