I don't really understand why we'd give him a better deal of we were going to sell him.

Qwiss Probably because we weren't selling him, we were keeping him, bringing in Madueke and trying to sell Martinelli. Then we signed Eze and couldn't sell Martinelli, for whom it's rumoured the highest offer we got was £40m. It must've been a stressful summer for all these players.

Liverpool are selling diaz and other at over market rate and that allows them to spend top dollar. City are selling Akanji and ake at 29. They're going past their best but still preform and hold value in terms of marketing, fan hype, experience ect.

We can't be letting all our assets reduce to zero. Could we have sold Merino and went for Ekitike instead of Gyokeres.

We had so little squad debth selling anyone was scary, but hopefully we can make some decent sales now.

We really should have sold Merino this summer. I think next season, we need to sell some of our depth and that may include selling some fan favourites.

Qwiss Stacks up for me. There's a lot of smoke, including what seem to be briefings from the club, about Martinelli having been available. And we have as clear proof as we're ever going to get for anything of this kind that signing Eze was a late reaction to Havertz getting injured.

Burnwinter Fully agreed. I'd say that moving up on value for Eze was a late reaction to Havertz's injury.

daredevil only fan favourite worth selling is Ode and I don’t think that will be the case. Who is a ‘fan favourite’ that we can sell? Mart is opposite of a ‘fan favourite’ atm incase you mention him.

I also would not consider Odegaard as 'depth' either. We aren't selling him. I think he means people like Merino or potentially Benny Blanco. (or the obvious Martinelli, or Trossard if he's still here)

I've only seen Lewis-Skelly as a fullback and I have to admit I don't get what the deal is at all. I've assumed he's a natural midfielder that Arteta played out of place due to necessity, but it's also hard to see a path forward for him in midfield at the moment.

Probably a bad idea to outright sell a young player rather than loaning him out, but I doubt it'll matter in the bigger picture.

Klaus if you had been engaged last year you'd love him. He's having a bit of a sophomore slump but he's got loads of talent. It'd be crazy to let him go now. If he wants to go to United we should price them out of a deal.

Myles is great at playing out from a press, taking players on and pulling off line breaking passes. The player in this squad most natural a replacement for Odegaard. His main issue is that he's a little mister casual, but so is Saliba. I hope to see him in midfield v Soton.

The electric fullback as defensive midfielder rarely happens. We had the same conversation about Zinchenko. I feel for MLS. I really like him but think that 80% of that is that I’m connected to him as an academy product. But as an offensive player, he’s nowhere near Calafiori’s versatility and consistency. And defensively, Hincapie is one of our best already. And both of those men have height for set pieces in both boxes.

MLS has to show what he has above these guys. Nwaneri will have the same task when he returns

Qwiss Makes sense. I don't think we are in a position where we have to sell any talents either; the team must be more profitatable right now than at any other point in our club history, we're expected to win the league and go very deep in the remaining cups, etc.

We do seem to need better loan progression for guys like these though, and maybe that's something we're in the process of arranging. It feels like a common critique that has been aimed against Per's tenure at the academy.
