I feel better teams push him onto his weaker foot and on those days it's an uphill battle; he has to turn and twist just to get an angle to pass the ball. I remember people claiming he was two-footed, but if so he is clearly favouring his right during games. Mid- and lower table teams often let him move the ball onto his right peg though, and then he kills them with a worldly because he needs very little backlift to generate power. Supreme squad player to have around.

Hard disagree. He was terrorising Spence and Danso. He was winning basically every second ball after they'd get a weak header or whatever on it and he was pressing the shit out of them. I thought he looked well on his game before the goal.

I thought the key to the game was that we won 70% of what should be 50/50 balls, and we did so not because we are faster - they have plenty of athletes - but because we were technically superior at every position on the field. Trossard was very much a part of that.

Also, he was getting criticised here against Sunderland when I thought he was one of our better players.

Is he a turnover machine? Yes. But he's also a player constantly trying to make things happen, and that often means risking turnovers.

When I reflect on Trossard I remember that the reason we could get him is because he had some sort of passionate dressing room bust-up about his status at Brighton when De Zerbi was manager.

One of the things Arteta's achieved is a dressing room where the consistency of the approach is such that the usual heated squad competition is a fairly stable struggle. Most of our players push themselves harder instead of becoming resentful.

I thought it sounded like a sane move at the time. The £4m per season or whatever it adds to our wage bill is worth it if it emphasises performances are rewarded, not quirks of contractual situations. Be curious to know if it was Berta's idea.

Gabriel did this thing with Sky where they asked who the strongest player in the squad was (or who could bench the most - something like that) and he said Trossard was up there. Guy is built like a mini tank.

Honestly I wonder if that’s because Arteta himself mixes being a good judge of character with being such an intense personality. That’s why Arteta would never sign a Vinicius even though he’s more talented than most of the players we’ll be linked with

the little details of trossards game really shine through in replays and slow mos. his first touch, the way he sets his body shape before taking a shot, the way he creates just enough separation to get his crosses and shots away. its subtle but highly impactful stuff

To be fair, he was not very good v Sunderland for the majority of the match... But he stopped up and scored a screamer, and that makes his not-so-great play earlier in the game acceptable. I have accepted Tross for what he is, a moments player (much like they say Eze is), and as long as those moments are often enough, I can certainly live the rest of it.

Yes, he tries to make stuff happen, but its frustrating when he tries to do all those stupid twists and turns when he's near our own box, and often gets dispossessed but falls over and somehow wins a foul. Lol.

Trossard's been incredible recently. I'm super impressed with him, he's obviously a man on a mission this season.
