I like him, he is a good player and proven in the league. He won't displace Martinelli or Saka but he will ensure the drop-off in quality is not too big when one of them gets injured.

I like him actually, when I thought he had 6 months left I would have taken him on top of Mudryk maybe assuming he'd have cost about £10m. Just turned 28 though, not a great age but I guess if we can get a couple of useful seasons out of him it's not too bad.

guess we've given up on getting a star winger. trossard is decent and will provide solid depth

don't really want to get my hopes up that we have dry powder for a centre mid. there's been such minimal noise around that position

With ESR back, if we get him in as well it's ok for options. We have the EL as well so plenty of games for all. My worry is still CM, where we have 2 players and thats it, but who can we get in january that can be of quality? Anyway, on to YT as I cannot say I have seen him much, did see him vs Liverpool and a little in the world cup

QuincyAbeyie probably more of a Felix replacement than Mudryk replacement. Short term, immediate impact and versatile vs long term superstar. I'd imagine we'll still be after another top class winger either now or in the summer.

If Romano is correct and we are moving quickly to get this done today, then my read is that we've sounded out all our alternative major targets like Raphinha, Torres and Diaby and realised none are feasible this January. I'd say this is a stop-gap for a year or two until a bigger target becomes available.

Would be good to have him on the bench against United.

Not a particularly exciting signing but a sensible one in the short term assuming the fee is reasonable. Coming from Brighton you'd expect him to be able to fit into our setup pretty seemlessly.

Realistically not going to sign a top attacking player this window. Would rather we wait until the summer and reassess things then.

He's coming to be backup and make sure when we need to rotate the quality drop isn't as significant as it is now.

A brighton reporter with sources inside the club will obviously spin the club narrative about fees.

That's how all these things work.

The fee will be somewhere b/w 12 and 30m.

Pepe LeFrits I hope this does not stop us from getting our star player and not the kind of player that is past their best after 2 years and we find it difficult to ship.

Staying positive about this deal but we need one more body in Jan ideally
