Burnwinter the system will break at some point. A lot of young fans, particularly folks I talk to in the USA resent the concept of international football. They now at the altar of big club football. I grew up on fun tournaments like the Euros and Afcons of the 90s, USA94 etc., so have a very fond association and strong bond with international footy. A lot of younger fans just see it as nothing but a hindrance to the next superstar gathering.
At some point, players will rebel. Or the football system will break when US owners finally get their quorum and force a breakaway.

Think we were knocked out a few times in the early 2000s. Fucking Deportivo and Valencia were our achilles heel those days. Shame because Bergkamp was doing magical things to Juve and Leverkusen back then and we should have had enough to go through.

It was actually haha. Think it was one of those group phases in 2000 or 2001 when we scored that great goal vs Bayern. One of those dummy 1-2s where Henry ran over the ball and Kanu found him in the box 2 touches later for a trademakr finish.

Fucking hate Carew and the way he kept killing our dreams. We were better than Valencia in both games but that bastard was our Drogba of the CL those days. Deportivo with Tristan, Makaay and Valeron that one year we faced them were disgustingly good. It was a shock, to me at least at the time, how good they were.

Big Willie Deportivo was fucking good. No shame in losing to them. Those players were insanely underrated. Diego Tristan is a top striker ffs.

For someone who didn't watch Arsenal back then it's always so weird/funny to hear about the European exploits (or lack there of) from a squad full of all-timers. I mean... Carew 😆

And we were missing Bergkamp for most away games unless they were nearby driving distances like France/Holland etc. But yeah, our all action style was so dominant in the PL but failed to be effective in Europe year after year.

Peak football - felt like every decent team had at least one special player in their side. Coaches let players express themselves. Games felt organic and a real clash of philosophies.

Tika tikka transformed the game but also killed something special. Now it’s just control ball vs slightly less control ball.

Qwiss I don’t know. Even Klopp who is a big character is part of the problem. His team was the biggest user of data. Everything from recruiting, training, how much time they play, how they press, etc.

I watched Australia lose to Bahrain in a World Cup qualifier last night. God I hate the way our team "plays". We have very few players who know how to control a ball and pass it so that one of their team mates receives it in a good position. Our coach Graham Arnold doesn't help matters. Can't wait until he's gone.

Also one or two of the Bahrainis were the worst divers and cry babies ever seen. I really wish referees would give some of these jokers a yellow card.

Does anyone watch/listen to the Podcast called The Overlap? Even though its 2 United (G Neville and Keane) and Liverpool player (Carragher) and Wrighty, i find it to be pretty good most of the time. I enjoy Keane & Wrighty's interaction..

USArsenal listened to the Vieira episode, which was wonderful but haven't really bothered outside of that one.

USArsenal Keane and Wright steal the show. Carra is less annoying than he is on TV, Neville still annoys the crap out of me though. And Jill Scott is a massive try hard. Should have Alex Scott or Karen Carney, they're more natural and likeable ex-pros IMO.

USArsenal Just watched the Vieira episode. Excellent. Loved that he said his management style is most alike Arsene.

Not surprisingly also he named Diaby as the biggest talent that played like him. In fact he said Diaby was going to be an even better player than him, had everything but unfortunately Smith that cunt killed his career before he even got going. Wenger and many other players also said Diaby was unbelievably good.
