daredevil Pep needs to learn how to rotate
daredevil because top managers don't rotate half as much as people on here think you need to. The difference with Pep and Arteta is using subs.
Qwiss i'm not an expert, but i don't even think taking a game off is actually good. reduce the load by giving them less minutes, but just sitting it out? i don't think the numbers back that up.
Qwiss most people here would be extremely happy with the subs part.
QuincyAbeyie I would be but there has been a persistent call to "rest everyone" for cup games, even when we played Bayern.
QuincyAbeyie the New York Times did an argyle in December on timing and impact of subs. Weβd had a few injury-forced subs but we had far and away the earliest average first sub time (46 minutes vs 59 minutes for City). We also had one of the highest impact of subs on games - in terms of goals and assists provided. The data is imperfect but it shows that Arteta isnβt particularly reluctant to sub relative to his peers https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6861536/2025/12/05/the-alternative-premier-league-table-substitutes/?source=user_shared_article

City won 10-1? That's a paddling
Thomas Frank to be sacked by end of January?
-- Looking very likely. But don't see who else they could get? May as well stick with him π
I'm a big fan of Rogers I have to say.
To be fair if you're sacking Frank for Spurs putting up a fight against the current third best side in the country, you'll do no more than invite more of the same from the next regime. Banter club that's done nothing to expect or deserve anything more.
Qwiss you're kidding π
Spurs are so, so shit.
Qwiss sure, but it's difficult to say if people would've asked for that if they were happy with the subs in matches generally.
Qwiss tbf you could've said that when we were finishing 8th as well.
Substitutions are a coin toss, sometimes they work, more often they don't, but people demand them every single match like it's a banker.
daredevil so make subs to manage the squad rather than running them into the ground with repeat sprints for 85 minutes
ππ proper Gooners Watkins and Rogers haha
daredevil because the cup matters and he wants to win it? π€·ββοΈ Obviously they should have had enough without him, but it's much easier to make it safe in the first half than have to bring the best players on to try and rescue it in the last 25 minutes.
Weβre Spurs trying to do that all white no more blood thing?
Such a Temu club
Claudius we had far and away the earliest average first sub time (46 minutes
That's got to be cap. No way our average first sub is 46 minutes. And if it is then its obviously hugely thrown off by injuries.
Claudius I think that subs timing data is tainted. Ode has that infamous record of 3 1st half subs out in a row.
That our subs can do well should be uncontested, we all know we have a strong squad.
