Burnwinter Just told my United mate that if they win tonight they might push up to midtable next season with some hope of a Europa conference place but if they lose it'll be bottom half again. He seems to think I'm taking the piss but I'm absolutely not. And I'd be hugely surprised if Spurs can get top half unless they sack Ange.

I think this is a poisoned chalice. A win will be amazing for Spurs or United fans.
But then they suddenly need to beef up their teams to manage a champions league campaign. These are two teams that utterly failed to do a league campaign this season. When they have to squeeze in games with PSG or Inter or Barca, they’ll really struggle. What they each needed was a simple season with no European competitions.

I have to say I like Amorim, prob the most honest manager when it comes to interviews. Always takes responsibility and never does he use excuses or throw players under the bus

Claudius I think either crashes and burns in the CL but I think its less of a problem for United. They need to stick with Amorim and this makes that a bit easier. Spurs and Ange need to break up and this makes it harder if they win.

A Man United win is much more palatable. They've won plenty of big trophies before. We're used to it. And they are always going to have pull for attracting players regardless.
Spurs winning and getting CL and the money that comes with it makes them a more attractive proposition for players to join. Without it they've just avoided relegation in their worst position for 50 years and are a shambles. Who's choosing to go there? Leave them down there for another season.

Obviously one of those situations where it's a pity they can't both lose.

Spurs will attract jack shit with or without CL, they used to be good at identifying talent at one point but that's also not the case now.

They'll be in the bottom half with CL matches next season.

Utd on the other hand will be a serious threat to our targets.

Cunha is going there because he's not wanted by any of the above

It's also quite clear they are in a precarious situation from a FFP perspective which is why Brexit Jim has been cost cutting everywhere, CL would make a big difference to the revenue on multiple fronts

That is why they are looking at the likes of Delap as option upfront this season (so far) and brought Zirkzee last season

Their new stadium is a millstone around their neck, Spurs won't recover for a long time I reckon. United's financial power makes them much more likely to bounce back and the longer they stay out of the CL the better.

Sicario2 Yeah he'll sign some decent wingbacks and midfielders this summer which is probably the right strategy for them right now, but he won't be able to get hold of any difference-making strikers to buy him time. Hopefully United will sack him early and replace him with some moron, and then implode completely.

It's a pretty fucking low bar but United look like they're closer to developing some sort of identity as a team. Spurs are just fouling, sitting deep and hoofing it up every time they get the ball, so far removed from what Ange has been trying and failing to do with them since he arrived

lorddulaarsenal Really is astounding how United have managed to build a squad that physically comes up second best even to the wost Spurs side to ever grace the Premier League, isn't it. Their players are so weak it's unreal, losing not only the first and second ball but often also the third. Championship level physique in a team with bottom league technical ability. The Arsenal youth team could probably bully them around the pitch.
