Tomi, Holding, and Tierney looking quite poor out there. Elneny, Sambi, and Vieira mediocre at best.
Saka really is next level, even when he's sloppy he's brilliant.
flobaba what was that about getting into a commanding position early?
I'd take Elneny and Sambi off for Xhaka and Partey.
Qwiss ja, apparently even this team isn't strong enough to cause Oxford significant problems. Quality gap between our squad and first team is currently just too steep.
Pepe LeFrits his twin brother. Was confused for a second when I saw it. Especially since he came off the bench in their last game lol.
Don’t think Martinelli has their RB beat, so let him come narrow and have Tierney provide the width. Doesn’t feel like those two are combining well out there.
Viera looking blunt so far too.
From passing it out from the back to trying to create a single chance, it all has to come from the wide players as Elneny-Vieira-Lokonga simply cannot compete against 3rd division opponents it's just to much for them, at least Elneny shows for the ball, I swear the other 2 hide from it on purpose, especially Lokonga. Maybe next year we can get someone from the conference league and they will be able to keep the ball for more then 2 passes. Just put Xhaka-Partey on and put them out of their misery.
IBL
I half agree but a big part of me is kinda 'what do you expect' given he barely gets any minutes. I still believe he has a lot of potential (fantastic first time pass in our best move of the game) but I think we've pissed around with his development.
Look like we’re struggling the pitch, and without a midfield.
Just noticed, thats Marcus McGuane playing for them. He was the next big thing once, left us to play for Barcelona
Really poor that we've not made the 'keeper make a save. Credit to Oxford for their organisation but we must do better. When we've actually moved the ball with pace we've shown promise but far too pedestrian most of the time.
Desperately dull and uninspiring. We need to sign 2 midfielders sooner rather than later
flobaba
I just don't believe that. That midfield are still internationals (Vieira at u-21) - there's just no cohesion amongst the players as they don't have match experience playing together. The way we play is so reliant on players knowing where each other are on the pitch and there isn't that fluency with this lineup. It's a problem with Arteta's coaching style.

The other thing I'm wondering, is whether there's a confidence gap between players in the first team and the reserves...? That will also contribute to our fluency and willingness to take the risks required to unlock the defence.
ffs what was that from Eddie, killed a great situation
It's a Cup game. The first team could have also struggled on that pitch against this team. The midfielders barely get any minutes and it shows. The front line in theory should be good enough despite the speed at which they get the ball but their collective decision making has been disappointing.
One positive, Turner has looked competent when called upon today.
Vieira is going to be annoying isn't he? Does eff all and then executes a cute back heel to assist Saka out of nowhere.
this is good experience for the second string, Oxford are bringing the physicality. Lokonga dud.
Elnennyyyyyy
delicious ball to Moh!
