It's a pretty common move though usually when the player is down to their last 2 years or something, bit odd when it's just a 5 month loan where you're being handsomely compensated and you have 3 years left at the end of it but it protects their asset I guess.
What his incentive is I have no idea. The guy is clearly a moron making several questionable career choices.
