I think they're paying £40m for Livramento too. I thought he did his ACL last season? That's a very high fee for him anyway, but if he did snap his cruciate it seems stupidly high.

They'll end the window having spent plenty that's for sure.

They would have a net spend of about 90 to 100m I think after this. And other than Tonali the other 2 signings are really uninspiring and doesn't move them up any level at all.

Coombs noticed Ornstein talking about Raya, said we'd sort it this week then move onto someone else. He wouldn't say that unless he was being told that by the club.

His career has been shocking since leaving us, even though he won 1 title and 1 ucl just being part of a squad, didn't think he would be trying to play in Turkey in his prime at 29. Reeks of Hleb career after leaving us. Grass is not always greener

Same goes to AMN. The guy could have been our RB for next ten years but was arrogant enough to think he was too good for that role and now he’s playing in the farmer league

Clrnc Remember my Liverpool cousins telling me that Wenger couldn't "Unleash the Ox" but Klopp would, worked out great!

Problem with Ox, Walcott & even AMN, not following advice of top managers explaining their best position. Ox seemed to think he was a CM, Walcott wanted to be a striker and AMN thought he was a CM. If they just focussed on what their managers told them they would have been fine. Instead all three careers just faded away.

Ox always seemed a bit unserious to me. He had his injuries but didn't seem to hate it enough, didn't come back stronger like the best players do. Just coasted.

I dunno...feels like he's had a disproportionate amount of injuries during his career. Seemed quite brittle.

Don Pacifico Yeah same. I have to say I also think he was not the most serious & he was never gonna be world class, but lets be fair, injuries are the reason he is going there at 29. If he had stayed healthy he would have still be in the PL.

Tbf to Oxlaide-Chamberlain, he said he left Arsenal because he was at a stage of his career where he wanted to kick up a notch and get more serious. You don't go to 2017 Liverpool if you don't want to test yourself, and Arsenal were an uncompetitive shell of a club back then in the last days of Wenger. The Colney Creche aka Club Colney was in full swing.

He wasn't even a first team player for us, you need to walk before you run. He went there are ended up as a content creator for their fan TV.

Ox was pretty terrible for us. He had plenty of talent but his application let him down and yeah he had a lot of injuries but I'd put that down to not working hard enough to get over them too. His injuries were never as bad Ramseys but the Welshman made a much better career because he worked hard despite those issues.

JazzG And that they are never as good as most Arsenal fans thought in the end. Ox was way too overrated here in the past.

JazzG harsh to put Walcott into the same bracket as those guys. Despite his technical limitations Walcott scored over 100 goals for us. He didn't do that by ignoring his coaches. At 34 he's just dropped out of PL football too so its hard to say his career "faded away", its more that he naturally aged out. In fact being in the PL until 34 is kind of amazing given he relied almost entirely on his pace.

Barnes is a massive upgrade on ASM imo.

Pepe LeFrits Barnes is decent, but I've never looked at him and thought 'that's guy too good for Leicester'. And Newcastle's aspiration has to be top 4 again.

I remember the physio guy on here (who's name, to my shame, is escaping me right now! Wait, is it... Speedy?), saying of Chamberlain's MCL knee injuries, of which I think he had at least two, that one more and his career was in serious jeopardy, and then immediately after he joined Liverpool it was a proper disaster for him because he tore his ACL.

Qwiss -- it's even more amazing considering he broke through so young. Seems the younger you enter the league the harder it is for longevity.

I've got plenty of respect for Walcott but he was also carried by RVP and Sagna. In contrast, AMN and Ox didn't have natural partnerships with the talent around them, and in turn their limitations showed. Ox could strike the ball mighty sweetly but little else, a more agile Podolski if you may. AMN had a broader set of talent but nothing stood out as top class, nor deserving of him getting time in midfield.

Took him a while to bed in at WHU but he was very good for the second half of the season. If they sell I might stick money on them to go down. A midfield of Soucek, McTomminay and Fornals isn't going to do much.
