JazzG tbf Paulinhas had a better season than Rice. He's older,not English and IMO less versatile though. Fulham should still hope to get about 75% of the Rice money for him.

their logic for asking stupid money for rice is the same as fulham's. they feel palhinha is just as good as rice. clubs like west ham think stupid money only flows one way. the only way for that to happen is you sell a rice for stupid money and then buy a project as the replacement and do it again.

Football can never read. There’s always some fountain of cash. Nobody in Europe will stop it.

This is what will happen. Saudi will just start buying up players and distorting the market. It makes no sense for older / tier 2 players to turn down those wages. Once they have a strong base, they’ll be able to throw their weight around. You’ll see shifts like club World Cup, potentially super league etc., either involving Saudi teams or being owned by Saudi. They will hit a tipping point when only the Qatari/ Emirates owned clubs can compete with them

And of course it could all be cyclical. It was all Soviet era billionaires a couple of decades ago. Of course this is a bit of a quantum leap - State backed versus oligarchs. The oil will run out one day, but not for quite a while yet.

Clrnc Definitely what they need, defensively they are a solid side but in midfield they don't move the ball forward well enough. I'd be surprised if they could convince Tonali, CL football next year and the guy loves Milan.
