Clrnc narrative?
5 years ago everyone was talking about 16 year Miguel Azeez being the next big deep lying playmaker. He is 21 now, and out of job, having had a stint in the Spanish second division. Youth systems churn through so many football players. Only a very rare few like Saliba, Foden, Bellingham etc., establish themselves early and continue on that path. In every club, dozens churn every year and never make it to the top. I expect more players to turn out like Miguel and Patino than not.
Which is why actually I am very impressed by someone like Eddie Nketiah. Even though I do not think he is the right player for this Arsenal team right now, for him to have graduated from our academy and be regulalry playing over 1000 minutes for a title challenging club. That's a phenomenal accomplishment. Very few other academy player reach that status anywhere in the league.
