It's a no brainer. 1 billion is a thousand bloody millions. His current contract is worth around 50-60 million. That's less than 1/10th of what he's supposedly being offered.

daredevil if Junior can’t make a living out of his £20m annual wages at Real, plus the endorsements that prestigious job carries, then he needs an accountant and Jesus. It would be bizarre for him to do this before achieving a Balon D’Or and becoming a bernabeu legend. I can imagine those things are worth hundreds of millions to a player in that unique position.

That said, even if it was 200 million (for even just one season), that's a lot of f*cking money. But real players want to play for the best teams, whether they have already won stuff or not. Recognition, legacy, iconic status, etc. That stuff is important to many players. Other than money, what would he get in SA?

Don't think that's the case. He'll be insured by his club in any case but they'd still have to pay him the rest of his contract as long as he's "trying" to get back to fitness. Unless he decides to call it quits and retire but that's not somethijg someone chasing that money would ever do.

I doubt Messi would be happier with billions and a Saudi career than he has been with 100s of millions and his Barcelona career. And the people who would be, probably wouldn't become as good at football as Messi in the first place.

I suspect what is happening here is not for FFP. Instead, Palmer signed last summer on considerably modest terms and his performances now warrant him being one of their top earners. So Palmer knowing he's locked in for 7 years on shitty terms (relative to his profile and status in the squad), has agreed to a two year extension on an already ludicrously long contract to get a bump in his earnings in the short term. His fault for agreeing to a 7 year deal in the first place and Chelsea now locked in on what I assume will be a mega contract for a player who's had one good season up to 2033. What could possibly go wrong?

True, nobody needs a billion, 100m, or even 1m for that matter. Just that if it's there and on offer that's me, everyone I care about and my whole family set up for hundreds of years. I'd standardly retire into some shitty league for that.

People may call him a mercenary or whatever but personally I'd give up winning more of the same trophies I've already won for a billion fucking Euros without a second thought.

Forget about millions, I've come off the idea of making the focus of my career to 'set up' my kids beyond giving them a good education and maybe a leg up when it comes to buying a house. It's not that bad to have a purpose.

Big Willie Five years for interest payments that are multiples of a typical elite footballer's wages is nothing to sniff at. If no amount of money can bring happiness, one is reduced to practical arguments for having less money.

Perhaps going into the belly of the PIF beast for a few years would be interesting as well.

No one is specifically talking about liviging luxurious lifestyles, but having that option if you are that way inclined wouldnt hurt. Also if I can set up my kids and their kids and the kids of so many others then why wouldn't I?

Having a purpose and actually being able to do it is so much easier when you aren't overworked and underpaid working for someone else for 10+ hours a day because you're worried about your own existence. Even ignoring what he'd be able to do for his kids and beyond, can you imagine much good can Vinicius do for his whole community, if not his whole City/region. Remember where this guy came from.

Anyways this is all moot unless we are being offered millions of £s. If that happens and anyone on here is willing to turn up their noses at 10x their salary on the basis above then good for you I guess. Doesn't make it any less right for those who'd snatch at it.
